Amazing as I look, because before that you have to go to ties with SMU in 1978 and TCU in 1961, and a loss to TCU in 1957. Of course, both were part of the old SWC I believe, so if you consider that the major conference that it was, I think you have to go back before 1940.

FtC: We did play BYU at the end of 1993 in the Holiday Bowl, and though I thought the effort was lackluster, we did win 28-21.

Interesting that those were all Texas schools. My favorite factoid regarding OSU football has to do with Texas schools.

When we won the Consensus NC in 2002 we opened the season with Texas Tech.

When we won the National Football Foundation NC in 1970 we opened with Texas A&M.

When we won the Consensus NC in 1968 we opened with SMU.

When we won the Football Writers NC in 1961 we opened with TCU.

When we won the Consensus NC in 1957 we opened with TCU.

We need to find a way to cancel the games that precede the Texas matchup in 2005 and 2006.

(And when we won the consensus NC in 1954 we opened with Indiana. BUT, the current Texas Tech basketball coach not only won NCs at Indiana, but also played for OSU the only time they won an NC. Or am I stretching too much for that one?)
