Bummer. :(

I almost wish this had happened before the Cavs had signed Graham. I would have loved to have seen JJ in Cleveland.

PHOENIX (AP) -- The Phoenix Suns waived well-traveled swingman Jim Jackson on Wednesday.
Last season, Jackson averaged 8.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 24.9 minutes a game. The Suns acquired him from New Orleans for Casey Jacobsen, Maciej Lampe and Jackson Vroman.
Jackson also brought a veteran presence to a young but talented team that won a league-high 62 games and reached the conference finals, where it lost to eventual NBA champion San Antonio. His minutes were cut drastically this year when the club added James Jones and Eddie House, who are averaging a combined 20.6 points and 42.9 minutes. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Jackson played in 27 games this year, averaging 3.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in 15.6 minutes. His last appearance was Jan. 4 against Philadelphia. Jackson has played for 11 teams in 14 years. He was picked fourth overall by Dallas in the 1992 NBA draft, after Shaquille O'Neal, Alonzo Mourning and Christian Laettner

Crap! You mean now I have to start rooting for the Lakers?!?! Oh, the torment this is going to cause my soul!!!

Glad JJ has been picked up though. Hopefully he gets more PT than the Suns could offer him this year.

I remember when he played for the Rockets (I'm not a big NBA fan outside of the Rockets and Cavs, so I have a pretty bad memory), and he played well with them. I recall Jeff Van Gundy trading him because he said he was disrupting the team chemistry. I was thinking that there might be something wrong with his attitude, possibly, due to being traded so much. Now that he's signed with the Lakers, I believe he'll be a much bigger threat than he was in the last couple of years. Here's to many more years of success to JJ. :osu:

I just heard on the Dan Patrick show that Kobe and the Lakers have announced that Bryant will be switching to #24 next season...

Does this mean Jimmy Jackson is not being invited back next year? Retiring? Or has Kobe just bought JJ's #? Anyone see anything on this? (24 is Jimmy's # currently)

EDIT:
I did just find the story on the ESPN NBA page, but it only mentions that JJ currently wears #24...nothing further speculting Jim's future with the Lakers or beyond though. I think this is JJ's 13th season in the league and his minutes dropped drastically from the last couple of years, so it wouldn't be out of the question for him to retire....maybe get into broadcasting...maybe see him around tOSU more often? That would be nice.
