Can we get a BPRT answer to this poll?
Well, it's still a bit too early for that, but I'll toss in my two cents:

Joel Caleb is making an official visit to Ohio State this weekend. This team needs play makers, so he should get the full court press from Meyer and company. The main competition is probably Virginia Tech, the home state school.

The Buckeyes have always had a decent shot at legacy recruit Nick Davidson, and he is certainly Ohio State material, but I don't know how his recent injury affects his status.

The highest-ranked offensive lineman on the Buckeyes' board has to be Jordan Diamond, who was always sort of interested in Ohio State. With the hiring of Urban Meyer, Diamond's interest level has skyrocketed. I wouldn't put the Buckeyes in the lead, but Ohio State should at least get an official visit.

For whatever reason, the previous staff never offered Vandalia Butler offensive tackle Taylor Decker, and he made an early commitment to Notre Dame. Just two days into his new job, and Meyer has already made Decker a top priority for the class of 2012. Even with Urban Legend on the case, Ohio State still has a lot of ground to make up. Hiring assistant coach Tim Hinton away from Notre Dame would certainly help the Buckeyes' cause with Decker.

Kyle Dodson was another kid who had early interest in Ohio State, but was turned off by all of the turmoil in Columbus. Currently a Wisconsin verbal, Meyer has already been in contact in an attempt to "turn" Dodson back to the good guys.

The hiring of Urban Meyer has improved the situation with Brionte Dunn, but I'm sure he's savvy enough to wait until after his official visit to Columbus before deciding once and for all that a "spread" offense is the right fit for him.

Se'Von Pittman was another Buckeye lean who bailed when the poop hit the fan in Columbus. Currently a Michigan State verbal, Pittman was trending back toward Ohio State long before Meyer's hiring. This one probably would've gone in favor of the Buckeyes anyway, but Meyer's presence certainly won't hurt the home team's chances.

When Urban Meyer was hired, I expected him to pull one recruit from completely out of the blue, and it looks like Noah Spence is that guy. This is really the perfect storm for Buckeye fans - home town favorite Penn State is mired in a major scandal and is without a head coach, and Ohio State has just made a game-changing hire who can legitimately offer Spence immediate playing time. If Meyer can land this kid - and the initial odds look pretty good - then his status as a legendary recruiter will be enhanced even further.

My completely off-the-wall pick would be defensive end Dante Fowler, who is committed to Florida State but openly looking around. If he schedules a visit to Ohio State, then it's game on.

My ideal finish for the recruiting class would be to keep Dunn, flip Pittman, get at least two offensive linemen (preferably Diamond and Decker), add an instant-impact defender like Spence, hope to get Davidson to grey shirt while he recovers from injury, and save a scholarship for a late-deciding super blue chipper like Fowler. Keeping Dunn and adding Pittman, Diamond, Decker, Davidson, and Spence would probably propel the Buckeyes into the top ten, and it would certainly fill their huge needs at OL and DE; adding Fowler (or any of the other kids) would just be gravy.

Nope. Harvin was the only kid to have a spot named for him in all the years that Urban coached at Utah and Florida. The Percy Position is that slot back on steroids. I'm telling you, he is selling that role right now to some of the fastest guys in America - one or more of them will sign with the S&G - and Urban will indeed start him next September if he can also run block.

As early as we are into the Meyer era, I think it's pretty apparent that the focus on recruiting is about to change significantly from the Tressel era. Not that one approach was better or worse, but Tressel and Co. clearly focused on building a team of solid (not necessarily glamorous) athletes who wanted to be Buckeyes. My guess is Meyer will be turning Ohio State into the place where kids will have the opportunity to play for a dynamic coach in an up-tempo offense or aggressive defense and showcase their skills. Just a hunch, but team speed will not be a problem for very much longer.
