Which coach (besides JT) would you most hate to lose?

The departure of Dantonio and subsequent promotion of Snyder really got me thinking about the coaches we have. What I kept coming back to is the coach I'd least like to lose (besides the big little guy) is probably one of our lowest profile people from a positional coaching perspective. Bill Conley. For years he's been (in my opinion) the force behind some pretty major recruiting classes. Both for Coop and for Tressel.

I'm just curious who you all would name, and why.

Tough question.

Conley is definitely the unsung hero. He is pretty quiet as the TE coach, but as Recruiting Coordinator he has possibly the biggest impact on the team. Without all-around good recruits where would we be?

It is tough to try and separate one coach out. The defensive coaches stick out in my mind, mainly because this side of the ball has been dominant and more consistent than the other side, at least since Coach Tressel arrived. Tucker's secondary has been excellent. Snyder's linebackers have been smothering. But how effective would these two be without the horses in the trenches on the defensive line?

Most consistent coaching for a position on the defensive side goes to Heacock and the line. Creating magic with thrown-in parts (Gamble, Fox, Grant) goes to Tucker.

I would give Conley the nod as being the one we cannot lose, because of his ability to recruit. He has shown he is one of the best. My next choice would be Coach Tucker. I am really interested to see what he can do in the next few years with some of the highest ranked db's getting more playing time now that they are gaining more experience.

as "recruiting Coordinator" Conley's role is huge and he's done a great job at it. I't hate to lose Conley also.

Hindsight is 20/20. Just curious, does anyone still think we can't afford to lose Conley?

LOL answers aside I'd have to go with Fickell.

He's a hell of a recruiter and has rapidly grown as a coach and an X's & O's guy.

He's a rising star in the professional...which unfortunately means that to keep his career on the upward track he will probably move on sooner than any of us want.

Give Hazel another year or two and he might the one I most hate to lose.
