Why cant I access DiHard's...

There is a new forum called the rumor mill. You need to go to your User CP, go to Group membership and enroll in that group. It has a gate keeper, so someone will need to approve your access to that forum. This was done so that outsideres can'r access that information and also so that folks know they are asking for the right to view RUMOR. Take what you read there with a grain of salt. Much will end up being true, much will end up being mere words on a message board. The forum IS available to anyone, we just want a good understanding of what you will read in there.

As ratboy explained, explanation is in an announcement at the top of this forum, *and* (in limited form) in the error message that popped up when you tried to connect.

94's joke aside, there are no "elite" users here, no invite-only forums for the "good posters". Anyone can join this one, and the reasoning for why you have to is in the announcement.

But yes, there is a conspiracy. You're all on Steve's double secret probation.

This is all a scheme to build my vCash back up. Slip me $v10, and I'll give you vAccess. To the one lonely thread on that very young and not-yet-rolling area of the site.

Or don't, and you'll still get access anyway. But I do need more vCash.

Just a thought ... Are those thread titles going to populate the Most Recent Thread/Post fields. I'n not sure if thread titles containing rumors should be visable to all who can access this site, even if that forum has only the barest of restrictions for access.

Already took care of that. But good thinking though.

Also, to anyone and everyone in general. The "reason" field is completely meaningless. It's just a built in part of the subgroup system. You can say "because my monkey is on fire and hitting me" and that's as good as "because I'm a Buckeye" or "because it's there". Really, the point is, put anything, or nothing, if I get to laugh, that's just an added perk.

Although, I'm going to approve one more gaggle of willing rumor mongerers and then sleep. Because it's late. So very late. But Alan and/or Hubbard can clear more (if they're around) before I come back.

Who is Alan?

I think you should restrict anyone from being able to see the rumor mill if they can't at least put something mildly amusing in the reason field. I simply put "because scUM still sucks", but it's the thought that counts.

I toyed with (not really) the idea of randomly denying people, just to make things interesting, but then I realized there would be more of these threads. So everyone gets approved now. Except $user[username], they really need to get run off the board.

--edit--
Crap, I wish that had worked.

Clarity,

Is there a way to put "Open Discussion" threads in the most recently visited section without Romper Room threads coming up?

Just didn't know why it doesn't show up.

I talked to a few people about that, and the consensus seemed to be that in the off-season, OD threads should show up there, but during the season only football/Buckeye topical threads. So that's how it is currently.

This is me shrugging. With enough trial and error (mostly error) from me, we can do anything we like.

Ideally I'd like to figure out a way where users can define for themselves what shows up there. But my kung-fu is weak.
