Will Muschamp (Former HC South Carolina Gamecocks)

Jimbo fisher was head coach in waiting under Bowden. I believe Bert was under Barry Alverez as well.
I forgot about Jimbo, you're correct. Didn't realize Bert held that title. I can understand it from a stability standpoint regarding recruits. If you're a "top tier" school in a power 5 conference, I would think it would be something you want to be cautious with. You never know who may come available when you need them most (i.e. Urban Meyer/Ohio State). I realize those opportunities are very uncommon, but still.

I also think history says that the coach-in-waiting typically doesn't wait. Muschamp didn't. Bert didn't stay at Wisky.

I get it, but feel its unnecessary in most cases. Keep your options open.

I'd love having muschamp as DC. Probably no chance it happens but with his recruiting ability and defensive coaching i wouldn't mind having him around a couple years. Florida's D is pretty darn good just had no offense. And as UFM likes, hell of a recruiter. Seems he is best as a DC rather than a HC
