Game Thread Wisconsin at tOSU, Sep 28th, 8 ET, ABC/ESPN/ESPN2

it DID happen. up 17 with all the momentum is an ass whoopin'... but then the foot came off the gas pedal late in the third...

i have a GREAT idea how Kenny and Jordan can get in the game: put them in the game.

Three plays that if went Wisky's way the game would have been even closer.

The penalty on the muffed punt
The dropped int before the TD at the end of the half.
Missed FG

After the first drive I thought the game was over, OSU really looked that damn good.

I don't yet have something in place that allows people to filter more than Mark May. So while I won't ask that people avoid any and all off-color words entirely, what I will ask is that we drop the gratuitous use of the pumpkin (see youra6's post immediately after mine) -- it's being used for the sake of being used, just because we can, and that's not great for all.

The alternative (until I can find custom code to make it an option) is that I hard rewrite Carlin's words for everyone, and that's not an ideal solution. So for the time being, let's be a little more judicious at least in the high traffic core content threads (like game threads, player threads, etc.).

Not asking mods to step in the way we do in the recruiting forum, but when it's every other post for nearly an entire page (8 of 15 for the previous page), we have an issue.

This is purely a matter of me just not having a code solution for the issue yet, the way we did on the old software. So help me out for the time being. And to be extra clear -- it's the gratuitous use I'm talking about, not the use. It's one thing if you're adding meaningful emphasis, it's another if you're just using it because we don't filter it.

The correct literary answer is: Norman Mailer, the Naked and the Dead. To get his book published in 1948 he had to change f**k* to fug. On the other hand, John Steinbeck has a scene in Cannery Row (published in 1945) in which two soldiers on a weekend pass are trying to get laid in a field near Monterey when someone tries to interrupt them. Steinbeck has one of the soldiers shout back, "Why don't you go take a flying f**k* on a rolling doughnut?" The secret may be that Steinbeck only uses the word once, whereas Mailer was all over the fugging place. Also note the 1960's rock group The Fugs, seen here performing their hit single, Do You Like Boobs A Lot,

* ** = ck

Great game. Beating Wisky is always enjoyable. Hyde looked like he was running angry out there, and I liked that. Doran Grant seemed to have a pretty good game, but that may be because Wisky was focusing on Roby (that was weird to type).

The ONLY question I have for Herman is.. 4th down... you have Hyde and Miller back there.. you have super seniors in LT, LG and C.. and you chose to go over Decker !?!!!!?

That might have been on Brax for the side it went or even Hyde.
Borland was playing like an All American. He's very good. Stave was playing out of his mind because he had protection most of the time. Abbrederius was playing out of his mind but has always been very good. Wiscy should have been undefeated at this point, but we know the story.
We beat a very good team playing at their highest level.
Now, we get another very good team. An undefeated team in Northwestern.
At their place at night and they have had two weeks to prepare. Their defense isn't as good but the offense will cause us problems. And this game could be even closer.

4th and a yard or two or inside the 10 I don't like the shotgun. I'd much prefer they line up in the T, but if you don't practice it very much I guess it creates risks.

On another topic, yet another bad snap from center that cost the bucks any chance on a third down.

I think in some ways Wisky was better than we thought and at times the Bucks were not as good as we thought. Just think if they could have put the hammer down the entire game.

100+ yards rushing was pretty darn good. The wanted to stop the run to win and they did.

Wish they would have hammered the Badgers though.

Go Bucks.

My thoughts:
- UW gave us their best shot but came up short....again.
- The UW Coaches had a great game plan and if executed properly may have beaten us. Too
many mistakes cost them the game.
- Abbrederius may be the best receiver in CFB.
- Borland is a stud. Wish he grew up being a Buckeye fan and not a Wisky fan.
- As well as Stave did it was our QB who threw for 4 TD's against a team that had not given up
a passing TD all year.
- The first TD pass Braxton threw to Spencer very few QB's could have made. His arm strength
is incredible.
- Hyde was on a mission. As much as I like Hall, Hyde was definitely the right choice for this physical
type of game.
- On Defense Shazier made some big plays. Grant had a solid performance and a great sack that
shifted momentum back to the BUCKS.
- Bennett had a good game inside.
- Losing Bryant sucks. He was our Captain on D and one of our best players. Replacing him will not be easy.
- As the game wore on we got more and more pressure on the QB. This was huge.
- Way to conservative in the 2nd half. Would have like to see us open it up some.
- Johnston was amazing. What a steal we got with this guy. Glad Townsend didn't work out. Playing the long field most of the game really hurt UW.
- 17 and OH-IO. Did you see what I did there? Would love to break Urban's record at UF (22 wins).

GO BUCKS!
On to NW!!

1. I think he's good, not great. Sammy Watkins, Mike Evans, Marqise Lee, Jordan Matthews, and the duo from LSU (Landry & Beckham) immediately come to mind as receivers who are probably more talented. Abbrederis will make a solid possession receiver in the NFL, however.
2. I think he was more influenced by the fact that his dad went to UW. That seemed to be the driving force behind his decision. Well, that and the fact that UW was literally his only offer.
