I do have some dear friends that spend ALOt of time gaming, but they hold down good jobs and are very socially active. I myself dont see the problem.... as long as you dont become something like a D&D freak. I hate those phuckers.

I play, but I dont plan on leaving Bloodscalp, maybe you all should make a guild there.
No thanks, I was pretty heavily entrenched in Hellscream before I left :) Was running 3 accounts simultaneously, 3 70s with another 60 and a bunch of 40s and lower, a few on other servers. Despite all that work, the guild I ran with (Some were rl friends) didn't get far past Kara. My main was stuck in Kara though, couldn't get the drops I needed as a Pally tank to advance. By the time they released the badge loot to compensate, I was pretty much fed up with the game. Ran that damn instance more times than I could count over a 6-8 month period, I wasn't about to save up 300 friggin' badges to advance.

Instead, I jumped on a private server, saw every instance and boss I hadn't seen yet in just 1 weekend, game over. I may pick it back up once the expansion comes back out, chances are I'll just play a private server again. The game sucked up too much of my time and cash. You can expect an MMO to hold players back to a certain extent, while they rake in some money...I pretty much hit a road block and didn't have any options for 5-6 months (Which is where the other accounts came in). Thats what ultimately got me clean and off the Warcrack....

Till I didn't know what to do with all my free time and decided to try SWG again.

So I"m curious as to why there is no much negativity towards this game?

I think the problem is too many people get engrossed in it and abandon/slack on their responsibilities which is where the negative point of view comes in. Some people can't play it in moderation. Some gamers by nature can't put a game down until it's completed, which is really bad for an MMO like WoW because there is no end really.

I played WoW for a few years and there were weeks where I pushed sleep back for hours to complete one more dungeon, or get one more quest done so I'd have enough cash for an item. To be honest, if the game was a single player game it wouldn't be that great and it would lose it's appeal. The game is only fun when you make friends and get to engage in teamwork to complete objectives. It's pretty boring otherwise, and not a sufficient substitute to console games.

I played it with a few friends in the military for a little while, just to keep in contact with them mainly. When they couldn't play any longer I put it down and haven't played since. It's actually pretty boring. Doing the PVP stuff at 80 was cool, but even that got old after a while. Really the only incentive I had was that I was able to talk to friends while playing.

Never understood the obsession with it to the point where people would abandon social lives. I've seen that happen a couple times. After playing it for a couple months.. I don't get it. Have nothing against those who play, or those who play a ridiculous amount, I just don't get it. :p

Thread necro!

Is anyone around here still playing?

If you've got a lapsed account and want a week of free play time there is a Scroll of Resurrection promo going on right now. Purchase a month of time after the 7 days and you get a free Cataclysm upgrade, a faction/realm transfer AND a free lvl bump straight to 80 for one character. PM me a character name & realm or your battle.net account name if you want an offer code mailed.

I quit when Star Wars was announced. I have zero desire to go back.

Yeah, I'm still playing Star Wars too and don't want to go back. Yeah, it's new and can't compete with all the content in WoW, but you'll have that in a 7 year old game. I like the PVP in Star Wars, the story driven quests are great, and the voice acting is pretty cool (At least the first time through).
