WR Albert Dukes (official thread)

I do agree with AKAK on this one. What Dukes did and what Smith did are night and day. They are both stupid but one is reconcilable and the other really isn't. To have a sex offender on your team is not exactly the image we want to portray. I guess it comes down to what kind of mistakes you make. My dad told me that I would make mistakes and then he said to stay away from the really big ones. Dukes made a really big mistake...but hes innocent until proven guilty. Either way it makes OSU look like shit.

Lets not use these guys in the same conversation please... While what Troy did... (I'm using the "improper gift" assumption) was bad... its still an NCAA violation... Dukes is looking at a 2nd Degree freaking Sex Crime.

bri- not really directing that at you... I just wanted to remind everybody....

And I'm sure Tressel will do what's right... though with Dukes... I don't think there's much to actually do.
I agree 100% Baron. The two are completely different, and while Troy still maybe with us for next year, Albert (if true) is gone.

No problem AKA. I was not really comparing situations. I just think that Tressel does what is right per each situation based on his moral and ethical character. Above all else he is still a teacher and a molder of young men. We tend to forget this (and yes, I include myself in that we).

I would really like the NCAA to do something worthwhile and have standard responses for felonies, etc. that all schools have to follow. This would keep there from being a disparity between a Tressel and a Carr in how they deal with players that commit crimes against society.

Check the birthday. I find it hard to believe that there are two Albert Dukes in Palm Beach County with the same birthday.

Albert (if true) is gone.

Anyway-- Having said that... this is a 2nd degree felony that, if convicted, will land him on a sexual offender Database.... after he gets out of the pokey... I tend to think throwing him off the team is pretty redundant at this point as he's got bigger fish to fry [be fried] than being in school... and thus... on/around the team.

I don't think we should find him quilty before trial either.

In regards to Dukes, did this happen in the Spring/Summer of 2003(makes him 17 years old)before he came to OSU?Would OSU even had known about this?He was arrested by warrant, was there a previous complaint filed?Maybe OSU had no prior knowledge of this incident, seems odd being arrested over a year after the incident.Don't know much about the law,but was this consensual as there is no rape arrest?Funny nobody has leaked any of this, this is the only place I have seen it.I did verify the birthdate,it is OSU"s Holmes.Anybody who has any answers,I'd love to hear.Just ruined my Christmas..don't know what to believe.

This is probably the crime that Florida has in place of what most know as statutory rape. I'm pretty sure these are the same or similar charges as the Florida school teacher that was all over the news for having sex with one of her students earlier this year.

New Post Re: Al Dukes in Trouble.. Another report says that girl is 15 years old. Heck, 15 years old girl could pass herself as 18 years old.

I know - cuz when I was 15 years old, I was oogling a female whom I thought was 18 years old. It turned to be 15 years old girl (she was 6 foot tall girl!)

Oh well.

Another report says that the charges are likely to be dropped. Let hope it is so!!!

not sure where he's gettin his info from though
