WR Binjimen Victor (Birmingham Stallions)

I'm not making any comparisons, but Binjimen excels at the deep ball. Many recruiting analysts have said he's probably the best deep ball WR in the 2016 class. Sure he's not going to take a hitch 70 yards, but he's more than a "possession receiver," IMO.

I believe Victor could be a coin flip on what he becomes, I watch his tape and I see consistent possession receiver but there are also some flashes of playmaking skills. But one thing he has you can't teach is size...I guess if I had to make a comparison it would be the late Chris Henry from the Cincinnati Bengals.

When I say possession WR, I don't mean it in a negative way by any means. We can use a guy with very solid hands to move the chains, and be a redzone threat, thats not a knock to Victor, whatsoever. I just don't see him, IMO, outrunning many DBs and blowing the top off of defenses a la Devin Smith. Will he catch some balls thrown high over DBs and over power them for long runs? I can certainly see that happening. But I don't see Victor being tasked with running fly routes to outrun DBs at the college level. And that's not a bad thing at all. Because who will complain if its 3rd and long, and Victor goes up and catches a pass to move the chains?

I would respectfully disagree with Henry also. But time will tell. Henry was a guy who ran in the 4.4 to 4.5 range and was probably the most athletic guy on the Bengals roster in 2005.

I didn't take it as a negative comment.

Being a deep threat is as much about route running as it is speed. Binjimen is a long strider who gets on top of the DB within a few steps while still gaining momentum. He won't "outrun" many DBs, but someone with a catch radius like he has only needs a step and he's open. He won't give you much after the catch, but he was made for running deep routes. I know we've become accustomed to speed guys like Devin running down the field, but USC punished people with WRs like Binjimen during the Pete Carroll era.

And we're talking about a kid who's only going to get bigger and faster. Only time will tell.

Any red shirt talk for this guy is ridiculous. Yes we have a lot of bodies in this position group but very very little returning production. It's WIDE open for wide receivers right now. And with the way it looks like talent will be coming in behind him, I see no reason at all to assume a RS. Put the kid in a position to succeed and don't worry about a 4th year of eligibility at this point. The great ones never stay 4 years anyway. And medical red shirts are a totally different deal anyway.
