I mentioned this in the '11 recruiting thread, but Minton likely means OSU isn't far behind on offering. Talking to some people from Wayne, he is OSU all the way. The whole Huber Heights area is talking this kid up non-stop...I can't wait to go watch him play this year.

Wayne's Miller hopes to cast his own mold

HUBER HEIGHTS ? Editor's note: This is another in a series of reports from area high school football practices. Coming Thursday: Stebbins.
Most high school quarterbacks would love to hear that they've been compared to Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor. Wayne quarterback Braxton Miller wanted no part of it.
"It's great to say that, but I want to be like me," he said. "I want to be the first big quarterback to come out of Wayne. I want people to compare themselves to me."
Though just a sophomore, Miller has received an offer to play at the University of Cincinnati. He used his strong arm and fleet feet to lead the Warriors offense through the rough Greater Western Ohio Conference Central Division last season.

I know Braxton very well im best friends with his older brother and he is Dee Millers cousin....he used to play football and basketball with us when he was little..hell he's even a beast in baseball, we used tell him we were training him for his future lol....im proud of him..and he's Ohio State through and through!

HUBER HEIGHTS ? The hype around him is growing to what could become an unprecedented level for a Dayton-area high school quarterback.


But Braxton Miller doesn't see it or necessarily like it.

"I don't want to get the big head at all," the Wayne High School sophomore said. "I'm just a cool kid that wants to play football."

Offered a scholarship from the University of Cincinnati as a freshman, the grinning, soft-spoken Miller can't recall the names of all the schools that have sent him mail.

Thanks for the heads up. I caught it a bit late and apparently he was 6 of 6 for 73 yards before I turned it there but he hasn't completed a pass since. However, you can tell Braxton has a gun but just horrible mechanics at this point in his career, which you can tell is very early, especially at QB. He hasn't broke off any big runs yet, but you can tell he is an extremely fluid run and has phenomenal ability with the ball in his hands. He is effortless running the ball and has some shake and bake. If he doesn't develop at QB (which he has plenty of time to), he is going to be a playmaker somewhere with the ball in his hands.

Edit: Final thoughts...Braxton is a stud. He had a bomb to set up the game-tying field goal. He pulled up short of the LOS and showed great awareness. He still takes off from the pocket too early and has a long, long way to go in his developement but in no way did Braxton disappoint imo...he showed all the tools that everyone has been raving about.

Sounds a bit like Troy Smith early in his career at Ohio State... Thoughts of the game... Offense looked good at times, I can tell you that Wayne OC Engle went VERY conservative after that great first drive.... Also Wayne-Lakota West featured in SC's top 10 plays with West's TE #85 making a GREAT one handed grab. Looks to me like both teams are going to have a strong year while having alot of things to improve on.

Wayne kicker steals show in seesaw battle

DAYTON - Fans may have come to see Braxton Miller's arm and legs Thursday night at Welcome Stadium.

But it was senior kicker Garrett Klink's right foot that was the difference for Wayne against Lakota West.

Klink kicked two field goals in the final 2:22 - the final a 30-yarder with 4.1 seconds left - to lift the Warriors to a 20-17 victory.

Moments earlier, Miller showed off a highlight-worthy play to set up Klink's 32-yarder. Miller evaded a tackler, appeared to scramble, but pulled up short of the line of scrimmage and fired a 48-yard pass down the left sideline to Rodney Camper.

"Braxton has to realize he has to be himself," Minton said of Miller, who fumbled twice (losing one) and nearly got intercepted a couple times. "Don't try to force issues."

Though the Terrelle Pryor era is just getting started at Ohio State, it won't be long -- three or for years -- until the multi-talented quarterback is gone. So while OSU coaches fire away with their highly touted freshman, they also have to be thinking about reloading. The pursuit of a top-level quarterback usually lasts two to three years. Schools identify the prospect, determine whether they have a legitimate shot to sign him, then begin the courtship process. It took OSU almost three years to reel in Pryor from Jeannette, Pa.
Once Pryor signed with the 2008 class, however, the Buckeyes had no real chance at landing any of the top QB prospects for 2009.
"That's sort of the price you pay most places when you sign a quarterback of Pryor's stature," said recruiting analyst Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts.com.
With the departure of senior Todd Boeckman after this season, Ohio State will have just three quarterbacks on the roster: Pryor, current redshirt freshman Joe Bauserman and freshman walk-on Ross Oltorick. It means the pressure will be on to sign at least one QB in the 2010 class, with Devin Gardner, of Inkster, Mich., and Robert Bolden, of Orchard Lake, Mich., already high on the list.
