WR C.J. Saunders (Official Thread)

Well lets see where we are in a few weeks lol... Heck, I'll be watching the IU vs PSU game to compare to be honest. If PSU is limited more so then us I'll feel pretty good about where we stand.

I

Just watch their RT. If we don't make him choose between an inside guy or an outside guy damn near every play it will be a tragedy. Our guys should abuse him all night long IMO.

ineffective run calls?

38 attempts a game for 230.8 and a 6 yard per carry average for the team is ineffective?
JK Dobbins and his 520 yards and 7.5 yards per is ineffective?

I have a feeling he was referring to designed QB runs, which we have all grown so fond of since MSU '13

Oh, and don't look now, but Ohio State has a passing game averaging 319 yards per contest....

Yeah.... need to throw to the walk on more... Funny how CJ Saunders is the savior at WR but JT is some noodle-armed liability.

I think we're all in agreement that the receivers have been underperforming for the past few seasons. This season, how many times have our WRs dropped perfectly thrown balls that would have resulted in huge gains?

Based on CJ's performance thus far, I get the sense that he would have held on to many of those. Yes, his blocking isn't great - but so what? The #1 job of a WR is to catch the ball and move the chains. Blocking is very important, but I almost wonder if Urban has emphasized "secondary" skills and being well-rounded to the point that our WR corps is mostly composed of speedy, athletic blockers with hands of coal.

Obviously, Urban knows much more about CJ's abilities, and the game of football, than anyone commenting on this website. And this is also very very speculative. But I do hope Urban takes another look at CJ, given the recent struggles of our WR corps to catch the freaking ball.

I think most of us would take 4 Sanzenbacher's who can actually catch the ball any day, over 4 Vernon Davis' who can do everything very well - except catch.

I think I trust that Urban knows what skill set he needs for his receivers and his offense.

PSU has a improved oline but they're nothing like OU. IMO that matchup with OU was a draw up front which then enabled the game to be decided by our back 7 against their skill/QB.

I'll move over to the ped thread (that rhymes) for further analysis of that game but yes you're right there's no reason our dline doesn't control that game.

I will say that if we lose at home, with a later kick off, to the reigning big ten champs, who could've ended our season, and while being possible home dogs then give up. If that doesn't give us the edge to crush them not sure what ever will.
