BRIAN HARTLINE SAYS HE HAS “NO DESIRE” TO LEAVE OHIO STATE FOR A BIGGER JOB
In his second year as the Buckeyes' wide receiver coach, Hartline has already emerged as one of the top recruiters and position coaches in the country, and at just 33 years old, seems like a rising star in college football ready to move up the coaching ladder.
But Hartline says he is content with being Ohio State's wide receivers coach and that he has "no desire" to leave Columbus any time soon.
"I have a strong passion for Ohio State," Hartline said in a Wednesday press conference. "I don't know what would get me out of the city, frankly, unless I'm just not good."
Through two seasons, that certainly hasn't been a concern. Hartline has helped make Ohio State's receiving corps one of the most productive in the country, coaching two 2019 NFL Draft picks last season – Terry McLaurin and Parris Campbell.
Hartline has also emerged as one of the top recruiters in the country and just hauled in what looks to be the best class of wide receivers of all time, signing four top-100 players including the top receiver in the nation. This comes a year after Hartline signed two top-100 players, including the No. 2 receiver in the nation.
And from the sound of it, he fully intends to coach them all throughout their Ohio State careers.
"I don't see a situation where I'm out of here any time soon," Hartline said.

So something just dawned on me the other day....
2016 - Zack is WR coach and I believe Urbs old buddy Joker was waiting in the wings..... Brian wasn’t playing in the NFL not sure if he retired yet or not
2017 - Fickell gets HC in Cinci and takes Joker with him (much to our dismay because most of us saw him as replacement smith). ZSmith still here and Hartline gets Grad assistant.
2018 - Herman gets pissed abotu losing Garrett tries to nuke Ohio state, ended taking out ZSmith, and later urban (beside the point) we promote Hartline to interim for the year
2019 - give him full time gig before the summer I think ... lands an absolutely insane WR group ....
how fortunate that the best laid plans feel apart and we came out of it on the other side about eleventy times better....

Brian Hartline is the best damn recruiter in the land.
After landing four top-100 players at receiver, Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline has been named 247Sports' national recruiter of the year.
Hartline's first full recruiting cycle includes composite five-star receivers Julian Fleming and Jaxon Smith-Njigba as well as four-stars Gee Scott Jr. and Mookie Cooper.
Fleming headlines the class and is unanimously considered the top wide receiver in the 2020 class and the No. 3 overall player in the composite rankings. Fleming is even rated a the No. 1 player overall by ESPN.
Just behind Fleming in the rankings is Smith-Njigba, who vaulted up the recruiting rankings this year after a record-breaking senior season. He finishes as a five-star prospect and the nation's No. 5 receiver and No. 28 prospect overall according to the 247 composite rankings. Smith-Njigba is the No. 2 receiver in the 247 Sports rankings, behind only Fleming.
Behind both five-stars, Fleming and Smith-Njigba, are four-stars Scott and Cooper. In the final rankings, Scott finishes as the No. 10 receiver in the class and the No. 65 overall prospect in the nation, according to the composite rankings. Who else could you give it to? Hartline is just a lights out recruiter and has been a home run hire. And to think he went into Washington, Texas, Missouri and Pennsylvania to get those 4 top guys... that's amazing.

The Washington get is the big one. The Buckeyes have recent talent from the other states, but I don't remember any from out west let alone one out of the backyard of one of the few teams with a pulse in the PAC 12.
