The very best in track and field

Here's a look at the all-Southeastern Pennsylvania first team:
100 meters: Corey Brown, Cardinal O'Hara, junior. Brown posted a converted time of 10.54 seconds - the state's fastest time - while winning the District 12 Class AAA meet title. He won the Philadelphia Catholic Championships title and placed fourth at the Class AAA state meet.

200: Corey Brown, Cardinal O'Hara, junior. The first-year runner ran a 21.44, the fourth-fastest time in the state, in the trials of the Class AAA state meet. He followed that with a third-place finish in the final. Brown also swept the event at the PCL and District 12 Class AAA meets.

Glare of the spotlight keeps finding O'Hara's Brown

MARPLE ? Some moisture had collected on Corey Brown?s brow.

The sweat had nothing to do with nervousness, or the press conference he was giving Thursday afternoon, or the cameras set before him.

Only moments earlier, the Cardinal O?Hara senior had hustled into the school?s lobby from the practice field. He was working one of O?Hara coach Danny Algeo?s summer football camps.

?There are a lot of good kids here,? Brown said. ?Definitely a lot of talent.?

In a self-effacing manner, Brown deflected attention by ignoring his own talents. The degree of his talent was on full display, however, by announcing his acceptance of an invitation to play in the Under Armour All-America Game.

One of the nation?s top recruits for the Class of 2010, Brown hopes to play both sides of the ball on one of the grandest stages a high school football player can achieve. He regularly lines up in the offensive and defensive backfields for Algeo.

From a list of 30 potential destinations, Brown has narrowed his list to 10. Algeo confirmed Brown?s top choices as the following, in no particular order: Florida, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Alabama, Florida State, Clemson, Miami (Fla.), West Virginia and Pittsburgh.

Great news if true...I still have Brown as a top 20 player nationally and a 5 star. He is only getting overlooked because he was hurt last year. If we indeed pull off Williams and Louis, Brown would make that an amazing WR class, though I think he can play RB...if he can and is being recruited as such, perhaps Mack Brown's commit to Florida helps us?

it seems like the general consensus is that the staff wanted another RB in this class to go along with Roderick Smith, given the fact that Smith is a bruiser I think Brown would compliment that pretty nicely as more of a slasher

because Brown has the versatility to fill a need at RB if the coaches want/need him to or have the ability move to the edge makes him seem like the perfect fit for the second RB in this class given the limited number of scholarships

LJB's post above demonstrates cause and effect almost as good as test-tube babies growing up in Ann Arbor. :oh:

Thank God you didn't say "scat back"!

With his size, I think he would be looking at WR/PR/KR.

If we ever figure out a way to use Flash Thomas, Brown would fit there too.

Hopefully we get Corey I'd really like to see him wearing the SnG. After the Louis commit yesterday I'm more and more excited about the potential of this class.

Question for the insiders.

The "Rumor" on Corey has me a little confused.

I understand that OSU is looking at him as a slot wr -
Is that the position he wants to play?
If that is the case, does the Louis commit have an impact?
Is that the same position that UF was looking at him to play? Why would the Brown commit have an impact unless he wanted to play RB?
If he wants to play RB, just like the Brown UF commit, does R. Smith factor?

I don't think Corey has a preference... UF wanted him as a RB, tOSU is saying ATH with first chance at WR...

His build is more like a WR, especially at tOSU... We'll see where he sticks. He's a kid that you bring in and find a position for later...

Don't know if/how the Louis commit affects tOSU... The thing with UF wasn't so much that they got too many RB's for Corey's liking, just that they had limited space for RB's, just like WR's...
