Northern RB Has Offer From USC

By Eric Guimaraes
RB Corey Brown (6-1 184) of Springfield, PA has an offer from USC. He has 29 offers so far. Others include Florida, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Tennessee, Rutgers, and West Virginia. Brown says he is also hearing from Georgia. He says he is a well-rounded player that has played several different positions and does not have a preference. "I've played everywhere on the field," he said. "I play mostly offense but if someone wants me to play defense, that's fine with me." Brown has taken one junior day visit to Rutgers and liked what he saw. "I thought I knew all about the school but found out a lot of things I didn't know," he said. "It's a good school." Brown also says he really likes USC. "They seem to get better every year. I think they will be one of the elite teams in a few years," said Brown. "I could see myself being a part of that." Brown does not have any favorites. Outside of USC, he would also like to visit Pitt, Alabama, West Virginia, and some of the Florida schools.

I was just mentioning the other day that I think that Corey Brown would be a five star if he hadn't injured himself early on in the season. Check out his Rivals evaluation (on the top 100 list):

RB6-0/171listBrown rushed for 1,019 yards and nine scores and caught 15 passes for 281 yards and four more touchdowns as a sophomore. He tore his MCL early in his junior year after starting off with 13 scores in his first three games.

He's the first RB I ever said "geez.. I hope he doesn't get any bigger" .. he's closing in on DE size !! and if he doesn't stop, Matta will be after him as a SF

Whoa whoa whoa, did I read that right? He scored 13TDs in 3 GAMES!!?!?! I think I just wet myself! I didn't realize he was THAT good! I honestly wanted Howard a little more, but not now, I'm gonna watch more film on this kid! I just hope he can comeback from injury fully, tearing an MCL is no joke!

I'm guessing he was thinking of Roderick Smith.

Is there any RB that Brown reminds people of?

To be honest, Reggie Bush. Maybe not as talented as Reggie in HS but the running styles are similar to me and Corey can catch the football as well. I think he would be used a lot in the slot or motioning out of the backfield. I think Brown would be the perfect back to go with Roderick Smith, much like a Bush/Lendale White combo. As pnuts said though, hopefully he fully recovers because he is such an explosive talent.
