Washington High School wide receiver Devin Smith was offered a scholarship by Ohio State Head Coach Jim Tressel after Smith participated in the Buckeyes? senior advance camp. Smith, who has not committed, may be gambling with time according to sources with knowledge of Ohio State?s recruiting process.

One wide receiver, Evan Spencer, already has verbally committed to OSU for the class of 2011. Spencer is the son of former Ohio State assistant coach Tim Spencer, now with the Chicago Bears.

?I may make a decision in a week or so,? Smith said. ?But I?m still talking it over with my family. I want to make sure the school I pick is what I want 100 percent.

?I was a big Ohio State fan growing up. My dad graduated from there. ... My dream before football was to play basketball for the Buckeyes ... then I realized football was the best opportunity for me. Now I have the opportunity. ... It?s a matter of if I make this choice or not.?

Ohio State football: 2011 recruits meet up at summer camp | BuckeyeXtra

Devin Smith, a receiver from Massillon, Ohio, who is not yet an official member of the 2011 class, said he enjoyed catching five or 10 passes from Miller. Then he spoke as if he already is a future Buckeye.
"With him committed and all the guys in our class, 2011, we've got some top athletes committed to Ohio State," Smith said. "I think our class will look pretty strong and do something in the next four or five years."
