WR Devon Lyons (official thread)

Dont know if u want to read anything into it... but Devon's uncle posts on the rivals board.. and a couple months ago he inquired about the number of safeties we're bringing back next year... Also hinted that Devon was considering the move since he has been blocked at WR....

Not sure why he feels that way given that he was hurt all year and still has 3 years of eligibility left...

CONFIRMED: Devon Lyons to safety

In the Wesley Lyons recruiting thread, it was mentioned that his brother Devon would be moved to safety. I haven't seen anything other that what was mentioned in that thread. This would be an interesting development to say the least.

boy would that change a lot of offensive strategies.. can't just throw it up and let the 6'4 WR snatch it like you can with a 5'10" DB... I LIKE THIS MOVE.. and 217 lb safety 'probably' hurts when he hits you... eh?

Mili.. come now... a 237 lb safety is illegal... just the thought... oh my...

I'm sure the coaches now what they're doing if this is true, but I remember that Big 33 game where Lyons was unstoppable as a wideout. I really thought he was going to be our big WR of the future. That's alright though, as we have plenty of depth there anyway.

sounds like a slightly slower sean taylor (former cane, current redskin): 6'2 232

What's Taylor's 40 time? Lyons has posted personal best times of 10.9 in the 100 meters and 22.8 in the 200 meters...he may not be slower than Taylor, and in fact may be a bit faster.

Also, this is not the first time there has been talk of him going to safety. They were looking at that as early as Nov 2004, per discussion in his thread.

I'll check into it. I was basing my comment on the few times I saw him play for OSU last year, so I may have an inaccurate reference point. Here is the first stat line I've found on taylor:

6-2½, 228 pounds, 4.51 avg in the forty, 10-foot-1 long jump, 35-inch vertical jump

edit: haha, someone thought I was backing down to you mili... I guess they haven't been around very long
