Now that he’s in the fold, Wilson will turn from recruit to recruiter for the Buckeyes. He has a close relationship with other Ohio State targets, including a pair of highly regarded quarterbacks.

Houston St. Pius X pro-style quarterback Grant Gunnell, a 4-star Class of 2019 prospect and the No. 2 pro-style passer in the country, spent Friday, Saturday and part of Sunday on an official visit to Ohio State and is a close friend of Wilson’s. The two also have spent time as 7-on-7 football teammates.

Wilson’s actual teammate, 4-star 2020 dual-threat quarterback Hudson Card, was recently offered by the Buckeyes during a recruiting trip to Lake Travis by Day. After Baldwin started the Lake Travis-to-Ohio State pipeline, Wilson will look to continue it by recruiting Card and others.

“All the kids that are interested in Ohio State, I’m definitely planning on recruiting them, especially all of those ones from Texas. I’m definitely going to work on [Card],” Wilson said with a laugh. “I’ve got a lot of time to work on that one, about six months of seeing him just about every day. I’m definitely going to be on him about it.”

When Urban landed V Bell I felt he was a recruit badly needed who brought another level of quality to the secondary. Same thing when Raekwon committed. Last cycle had NPF. We needed a star at OT and we got one. Wilson is that type recruit. No disrespect to other WRs on the team at all. It’s just a huge need given the aging roster. And he’s not just another body to fill the room. He’s a legit 5 star at a major position of need. This is a huge get.
