WR James Clark (transferring to Virginia Tech)

You may be right, but doesn't the fact that he is on the campus of one of his favorites the day he is planning to make his silent commitment a little bit worrisome?

Sure, he could call the OSU coaches on his way home from Gainesville and commit. Or he could do it face to face with the UF coaches. The timing just lessens my optimism a little bit. He could have silently committed to OSU on his visit last weekend or during the visit from coaches a few days ago if OSU was where he was leaning.

I'm not saying he won't commit to Florida or that he's going to commit to us, I just don't think the timing of his commitment has anything to do with where he's committing besides the fact that it's directly after he's done taking visits.

He's going to Florida to check up on some academic things that he hasn't seen yet (said he's already seen all the football related stuff). After that I think he'll have all the information he needs to make a commitment which is why it'll be tomorrow or Monday.

I'm on record here as saying there's no recruit for the 2013 class that I want and like more than Clark.

Posted TOS, Not sure if this impacts Clark but the Gators are REAL tight on scholarships. On Rivals there is a story today that Muschamp called Fla. LB Q. Powell this morning. Muschamp told him they do not have room for Powell. I'm wondering if this relates to Clark somehow and they are making room for Clark?

New Smyrna Beach WR James Clark down to 3: Clemson, Florida, Ohio State
By Chris Hays | Orlando Sentinel
February 4, 2013

And now James Clark can relax. He knows what school he will be picking on National Signing Day and the winner in the sweepstakes for his services will come from his final three of Clemson, Florida and Ohio State.

Clark, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound slot receiver from New Smyrna Beach, has narrowed his list to a final three and will announce his final decision on Wednesday at 9 a.m., at New Smyrna Beach High School.

He took his final visit of the recruiting cycle this past weekend with an unofficial trip to Gainesville where the Gators had one last shot to sway Clark in their favor.

"The Florida vist was great and I got to see the academic side of things that I hadn't really seen before," Clark said. "It was a good experience and it definitely changes a lot of things ... I was able to find out more information about things. I wouldn't say my opinion changed, but it definitely opened up my eyes to a few things and now I definitely know where I want to go.

I know now, but I will hold off until Wednesday to announce. There are great things about all three schools. All of them have great academics and all of them bring great things to the table. I can't say it's the same things for each school, but they are all good schools."

Free Rivals - National Signing Day: Top story lines

Swamp thing

Despite a loss in the Sugar Bowl, Florida is coming off its best season since Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow left Gainesville. Head coach Will Muschamp and his staff have a pair of five-star commitments in Alex Anzalone and Vernon Hargreaves III to headline the class. They were able to flip Anzalone, Matt Rolin, Demarcus Robinson, and Jarrad Davis late in the process. They are still in good shape with four-stars Jaynard Bostwick and James Clark. The Gators will look to unseat the Tide for the No. 1 spot, but even if they don't reclaim the top spot it's a loaded class.
