WR James Louis (transfer to FIU)

Wow, this place was all quiet before I went to lunch this afternoon. Was too busy to sit on the internet after lunch, so when I check it from home the place has blown up with a left field commitment. I'll take another day like this tomorrow :P

Okay, after watching that video on ESPN. I assume some of the plays in the beginning were from his Sophmore season? Cause he looked like he was a lot faster the last 2/3 of that video. A couple things stand out. 1) he catches EVERYTHING with his hands. I don't think one ball hits his chest in that entire video. Even the fade throws over the shoulder he just stabs the ball up in the air. 2) He sure looks good on pass defense. Obviously with his speed he's better suited at CB but some of those plays he made at Safety were beautiful. Read the QB, made his break, and came out of NO WHERE to pick off passes. The one standing out was what looked to be against the HS version of scUM. Seriously who would want to play for a HS with those attrocious uniforms and winged helmets? 3) the kid likes to hit people. Not a lot of plays where he's blowing up people but you can definitely tell he flies around on defense making tackles. Doesn't hesitate in the least bit when coming up in run support.

Atlantic's James Louis now headed to Ohio State, not Florida
The drama is over for Atlantic wide receiver James Louis. After a confusing past few days, Louis is finished with the Gators and gave Ohio State his verbal commitment.

Louis spent his junior season and time this spring and summer doing his homework on all of his scholarship options; taking the time to really see what programs had to offer and how he would fit in at each school. He resisted committing early, instead waiting until mid-July to make his decision.

When he called Florida to inform the school that the Gators were his pick, the coaching staff was happy, but head coach Urban Meyer asked him not to talk about his decision with the media for a few days. Louis didn?t really think much about that comment, until this past week.
After being unable to attend Florida?s Friday Night Lights Camp, Louis started to see numerous stories popping up online about how Florida wasn?t going to accept his commitment and how he might have to wait until the staff saw who else ended up committing. That set off alarms in his head and he immediately began calling and e-mailing Meyer and his coaching staff.

After five or so days of silence from Florida?s end, Louis said to heck with it and called the Ohio State coaches to let them know he will be a Buckeye next year.

?It was really frustrating,? Louis said. ?I wasn?t just going to sit around and wait for [Florida].?

Louis and Atlantic coach Andre Thaddies said after news surfaced that Louis had decided to go to Ohio State, now the Florida coaching staff has called and e-mail numerous times. Louis hasn?t returned any of those calls or e-mails saying, ?it?s too late for that.?

Hmmmm, "The young man can flat out run. .....possesses some of the best quickness and acceleration in this class and can be a dangerous weapon" (Thinks to himself) Wears the number 7. This seems vaguely familiar to me, can't quite put my finger on it.

Hope he's one of the next great ones.

also looks to be in the holmes mold to me also....man the WR's are LOADED....posey, carter, fields, jackson and now louis

this will be the second WR that the florida schools will regret not getting in the last 2 years....love the way he can be another chris gamble type...good on both sides of the ball

Vico at ohd.com has some interesting info regarding Louis' UF commitment, via FLA newspapers. This is from The South Florida Sun-Sentinel:

When he called Florida to inform the school that the Gators were his pick, the coaching staff was happy, but head coach Urban Meyer asked him not to talk about his decision with the media for a few days. Louis didn?t really think much about that comment, until this past week.

Would be very surprised if he didn't line up at CB. Has the size the staff looks for, speed, agile hips, has Malcolm Jenkins type hands (catches anything near him).

Should be interesting to see where he's lining up next fall, but looks like the type of athlete that can contribute from Day 1, even if it's ST's.

* After watching that video, I'm surprisingly impressed with his great angles he takes on defense. Reads and anticipates in one motion and attacks. Love not seeing any hesitation on that side of the ball already as a high schooler. Very good WR, great DB IMO.

Is this kid up for playing on D because I really like him there. I think he'd make a better DB than a WR. His hitting, tackling and leaping ability on Ints. was what really impressed me. I really think he has the D mentality.

On offense I thought he looked good too but not as good, although I think his hands are what set him apart at WR. He really makes some nice grabs even with the sound of footsteps near by. In the open field he has good speed and is elusive. He reminds of 2009 forgotten commit/signee, Dominic Clarke.
