WR Julian Fleming (transfer to Ped)

Ted Ginn came here as the #2 rated DB in the country. He played QB at Glenville his senior year and CB on defense. WR was not in his future when he got here.

If I remember correctly, Ginn was the #1 rated CB in the land... #2 overall.. behind some piker named Peterson

I actually meant to see #2 rated player as a DB but the words didn't exactly come out right. Thanks to those of you who corrected this.

OHIO STATE WIDE RECEIVER SIGNEE JULIAN FLEMING NAMED NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Julian Fleming has long been regarded as the top receiver in the 2020 class, but on Friday he was named the top overall player in the 2020 class.

The five-star Ohio State wide receiver signee picked up a national player of the year honor on Friday evening when he was named the 2019 High School Football America / National High School Coaches Association Senior Player of the Year.

Rated as the No. 1 receiver and the No. 2 overall player in the 2020 class in the 247 Composite, Fleming collects the award after a spectacular senior season where he finished with 72 catches for 1,572 yards with 23 touchdowns while leading his Southern Columbia High School to its third-straight state title.

Fleming is the third Ohio State signee to win the award since its inception for the 1999 high school football season, joining Terrelle Pryor in 2007 and Tate Martell in 2016.

Sam Spiegelman, who covers Texas and Louisiana recruiting for Rivals, was not as impressed with five-star receiver Julian Fleming as most others are. That helped contribute to Fleming falling eight spots in the final rankings.

Sam Spiegelman (Texas/Louisiana): Julian Fleming is a really good wide receiver and at Ohio State, I fully expect him to make a ton of plays in Ryan Day's offense. However, he's never blown me away with his speed or hands or playmaking ability. While he does everything really well, I am not sure he's a total difference-making wide receiver.
Why Rivals is such a joke and 247 is yet again making them look foolish. The fact that he can’t see talent Fleming is an absolute joke. Kid looks like a little Larry Fitzgerald

It's just an odd take.

"...he's never blown me away with his speed or hands or playmaking ability".

So, anything? To me that sounds like he think he's a low 4*. That's definitely not the case. Dude's not Campbell, but he has very good speed for his size, and more than enough playmaking ability based on his highlights, even if it's against bad competition.
