Noah Brown, the 6-2, 210-pound wide receiver from Pope John XXIII (Sparta, N.J.), is slated to take an unofficial visit to Rutgers, Tuesday, he told NJ.com. One of the most heavily recruited uncommitted receivers in the northeast, Brown recently named Ohio State his leader after a recent visit to Columbus.

The Scarlet Knights appear one of the top contenders for Brown's services joining Ohio State, USC, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, North Carolina and South Carolina in his top eight.

In addition to Rutgers and Ohio State, Virginia Tech is another program thought to be most heavily in the mix.

The last time Brown was on the Rutgers campus was for a spring practice a few months back. He visited Virginia Tech on April 20th and Ohio State for their game against Michigan last November and as recently as July 24 for Friday Night Lights.

Of Brown's 20 offers, Penn State, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, South Florida, Syracuse, Boston College, Pitt, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Virginia and Georgia Tech are the schools to not make the cut-down to eight. One school yet to offer, but still showing Brown big-time attention is the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Rutgers recruiting: Noah Brown talks spending eight hours on Rutgers campus, Tuesday

Todderick Hunt, NJ.com By Todderick Hunt, NJ.com
August 07, 2013

Pope John XXIII (Sparta, N.J.) class of 2014 wide receiver, Noah Brown, and tight end teammate, Ryan Izzo, spent almost 10 hours on the Rutgers campus, Tuesday. The tandem took in a Rutgers practice and got further indulged in the Rutgers program, as a whole. Wednesday morning, Brown explained to NJ.com what he had experienced the day before.

"I got a chance to sit in on practice, meetings and talk to a couple players," said Brown, the 6-2, 220-pounder. "The thing I wanted to see going into the visit was how coach Matt Simon (the Rutgers wide receivers coach) interacts with his players. I was super impressed with his energy and attention to detail. He seems like he is a great coach. I was very happy with my visit."

Brown claims to have left campus at almost 10 p.m. (ET) due to "sitting in on a post-practice meeting." However, he also spent much of that time conversing with Rutgers star receiver, Brandon Coleman, as well as Rutgers head coach, Kyle Flood. According to Brown, Flood, once again, made clear the high regard the Rutgers staff holds him in.

"I spoke with coach Flood for a long time," said Brown. "He pretty much gave me the same talk we have every time about the opportunity that is there at Rutgers and how much they want me there. And he talked about the potential of the class that could be coming in to rep(resent) Jersey if I came."

Brown, who recently announced Ohio State as his leader, has Rutgers pulling closer in a race to the finish. He addressed if the Buckeyes were still in the lead for his services after Tuesday's visit.

"I haven't really thought about that yet," he said. "I will discuss that with my family later on when I decide to narrow my list down a bit. Right now, I'm just trying to sit back and take in as much info as possible."

Rutgers recruiting: Noah Brown and Ryan Izzo to visit Rutgers for second time in three days
By Todderick Hunt, NJ.com
August 08, 2013

The Scarlet Knights, apparently, have made quite an impression on Pope John XXIII (Sparta, N.J.) class of 2014 pass-catchers, Noah Brown and Ryan Izzo. Brown announced today via Twitter that he, Izzo and their class of 2016 phenom quarterback, Sonny Abramson, will be attending today's Rutgers practice.

"Headed up to Rutgers practice w (Ryan Izzo) and (Sonny Abramson)," Brown, the 6-2, 220-pounder tweeted.

Brown and Izzo ? both four-start recruits ? each spent upwards of eight hours on the Rutgers campus, Tuesday. Fourty-eight hours later, they are set to return. The Scarlet Knights are making a late charge attempting to overtake Ohio State's lead for Brown

AFAIK there was plenty of doubt. It was said that he hadn't received it up until now.
I stand corrected. I didn't doubt it by any means, but apparently there was. Either way, it's all settled now.

I was starting to worry as well. Hopefully rutgers hasn't taken over the lead too much. He's been visiting there with teammates quite often recently.
If it means anything, 247 still has us leading for his services. I'd still love to get him at WR

It would be cool to know the "goings on" with this kind of stuff. Why did they wait to send him the offer if they really wanted him (could get disenchanted with OSU and focus on other which may have happened)? Now that the offer has been extended, does OSU say " we were just kidding we really want you"? Does the offer being extended even mean that they would accept his commitment?

Interesting stuff.

I have those same questions. But Im pretty sure that he does have a committable offer and that Osu would accept. I'm hoping the wait was just to see how they could fit him into the class with limited scholarships, and that the coaches still go after as hard as they always have.

Scout $ - Four-star WR Brown Nears Decision

8/17

By Hellman.....Rutgers, Ohio State, Vanderbilt & Virginia Tech stand out. Has talked to the OSU staff multiple times this week & says the commitment of Curtis Samuel doesn't change anything. Decision could come at any time.

AWesome news that the staff has contacted him multiple times, as it's the first time I've heard of that. Hopefully he's still trending towards, especially if he really doesn't care about Samuel committing. And why should he, they're coming in at different positions. Join the dream '14 Noah!!!

Noah could make decision, September 12.

Now, onto what also appears to be a head-to-head battle between Rutgers and Ohio State. Pope John XXIII (Sparta, N.J.) wide receiver, Noah Brown, appears to also be closing in on a decision. He has continually expressed interest in ending the recruiting process previous to the 2013 high school football season. And although he has yet to make his final decision, the Scarlet Knights appear to have the edge.

Brown publicly declared Ohio State his leader, last month, but the Scarlet Knights have since made a charge. Brown and teammate Ryan Izzo ? also a four-star Rutgers recruit ? recently took two visits to Rutgers campus in the span of three days. Although Brown, at the time, did not pull the trigger on a Rutgers commitment, multiple sources say he was close. And it now appears the biggest hurdle in Rutgers attaining his pledge are a few members within Brown's support system who feel Ohio State could be a better fit, sources say.
