WR Roy Hall (Official Thread)

You can't expect all young players to come through. I would say Mo Hall is a great comparison to Roy. Mo did not have much of a chance to improve as he was sitting behind Ross & Clarett for most fo his career, as well as being stopped by a strange misperception of his health by Tressel and Co. Likewise, Hall is not getting many catches every game, partially because we don't throw the ball a lot, partially because Ginn and Holmes are the stars of the passing game right now.

So it may take him till he is a senior to turn it on, merely because he won't get the touches a game to make drastic imiprovements before then.

I do think Roy Hall is a disappointment but when you have a coach that thinks that when you have more that a three point lead and set on the ball long enough it will hatch little footballs it sure doesn't give anyone a chance "to not only catch" many passes but doesn't even get much "game" experience at doing so.
See Lydell series second half, 3 carries 5 yards punt, Another time Lydell 7 yards fumble Mich State Ball. AND STILL NO LITTLE BABY FOOTBALLS HATCHED.

well he's certainly not setting the world on fire, but I don't think I'd characterize any Sophmore as a "disappointment"..... and I'm having trouble remembering Nugent as a disappointment.... he wasn't an All American his freshman year, but he has been ever since.

Dissapointment is probably to strong and I don't like to use it on a soph...but with that said I expected much bigger things from him this year.

Expectations were probably to high but I think even he would say that he expected more.

He's still very young. The one disturbing thing that I notice about Hall is his knack for getting in skirmishes after the play. It seems like you always see him talking smack with someone after the play. I may be wrong, but I wish that he'd be quiet and play ball.

Coach Hazell was quoted in the summer as saying that Hall really needed to work on the mental aspecto f his game, including confidence. Hall apprently isnt there yet, but as evidenced by his unreal catch at northwestern, he has the physical tools.

He's going to need to turn it up a notch soon, or devon lyons is going to steal his thunder.

Never mind BJ Sander, who went from OSU "disappointment" to All-American and Ray Guy Award winner...to Packers "disappointment".
I think Sander was punting last night for the Browns actually, so maybe he'll catch on after all...I saw an article where he mentioned how hard it was adjusting the the NFL, because hang time is more important than distance but distance was more important in college

Derrick Frost is the Browns punter.

After the way Frost punted yesterday I wouldn't be surprised to see the Browns give a guy like Groom a shot. The guy on the radio said Frost punted one 7 yards from his own endzone. :2004:

Roy Hall to TE?

I have heard rumors as of late that Roy Hall has officialy moved over to TE. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If this is true, I hope he can put on a few more pounds and learn the blocking schemes so he can be used this season. He would create all kinds of problems for linebackers, but I cannot see Tress using him if he is a blocking liability.
