WR Terry Glenn (1995 Biletnikoff Award & NFL Pro Bowler, R.I.P.)

Bad forecast? Terry Glenn's debut could be ruined by the weather.

A 60 percent chance of rain could keep Glenn out of Sunday's game at Washington because of the field conditions, Phillips said. Glenn has not played this year because of two surgeries to his right knee.

"I don't want to put a guy out there coming off a knee injury in harm's way," Phillips said. "Other than that, I think Terry Glenn will be ready to play."

Dallas Cowboys WR Glenn glad to get some game action
Receiver believes time on field will prove to be beneficial in playoffs
Monday, December 31, 2007

LANDOVER, Md. ? Terry Glenn was one of the last players to walk out of the Cowboys locker room Sunday night at FedEx Field.

Glenn hadn't left a locker room since January when he slowly took off his gear following the stunning NFC wild-card loss in Seattle.

Since then, his preparation for the 2007 season was halted because of two knee surgeries.

Glenn recovered and made his debut in the Cowboys' loss in rainy Washington.

He didn't have a catch in limited action, but was a target not only from quarterback Tony Romo, but the Washington secondary as well.

"It was a little surreal out there, especially with how those guys were," the wide receiver said. "They felt pretty aggressive today, and it should have been. They had a lot to play for."

"One thing I will say about Terry, and I might be biased because I've known him since I was 18 years old," Springs said, "is you don't have to worry about him. When he's feeling good, he is a problem."

Glenn accuses Redskins safety Landry of a dirty hit
By RICK HERRIN

LANDOVER, Md. -- Cowboys receiver Terry Glenn sat alone facing his locker rubbing his lower right leg over and over.

Glenn was fortunate he wasn't on the training table caring for his troublesome right knee after the 27-6 loss at Washington. In his first game of the season Sunday, Glenn barely played and barely dodged disaster when he was hit low by Redskins safety LaRon Landry in the second quarter on an incomplete pass.

Glenn, who was hit well after the overthrown pass landed, was not injured when he was upended near the sidelines. He stood up, walked to the sideline and only returned for one more play. The 12-veteran, coming off two knee surgeries, was shocked by the hit and thought the Redskins were going after his right knee.

"Those guys are out there trying to really take it to my knee," Glenn said. "I think they were trying to hurt me."

Landry didn't agree with Glenn and denied he was trying to hurt him.

"Not at all," Landry said. "We weren't intentionally trying to hurt the guy. We were out there flying around to the ball, trying to make plays whether it was Terry Glenn or whoever. It didn't matter."

Glenn Endures Tough Hits In Season Debut

LANDOVER, Md. - Cowboys wide receiver Terry Glenn was expecting to take a few hits for the first time this year when he made his season debut against the Redskins.

However, he was at least hoping he would see them coming first.

Glenn finally returned Sunday in Washington, coming off the right knee injury that required two arthroscopic surgeries since August, playing only a handful of offensive snaps in the Cowboys' 27-6 season-finale loss to the Redskins at FedEx Field.

But he was in the game long enough to endure a vicious hit to his right knee by Redskins safety LaRon Landry.

In fact, Glenn and other offensive teammates questioned if it was a dirty play, although it appeared Landry slipped on the wet ground and rolled straight into Glenn, who was running down the sideline and never anticipated the hit.

"I was shocked," Glenn said of getting knocked off his feet. "I had no idea that was going to happen. Those guys were out there really trying to take it to my knee. They know if they see us again, they're going to have problems, especially in Dallas.

"I think they were trying to hurt me."

GLENN?S RETURN COULD MAKE A BIG IMPACT
By BART HUBBUCH

January 12, 2008 -- IRVING, Texas - Terrell Owens isn't the only big-play receiver expected back in the Cowboys' lineup tomorrow.

Terry Glenn practiced again yesterday with no problems and should play alongside Owens in the Cowboys' NFC divisional playoff against the GiantsNew York Giants , coach Wade Phillips said.

Phillips wouldn't guarantee the speedy Glenn would start, indicating he would be worked into the rotation instead.

But just having Glenn back is considered a boost by the Cowboys, who saw one of the league's top deep threats miss all but the regular-season finale because of knee surgery.

Unlike Phillips, who was typically cautious with his remarks, owner Jerry Jones raved about Glenn's effort in practice this week.

?I think we've got a chance for [No.] 83 to light 'em up, and I'm excited about that," Jones said. ?He has been very impressive this week, very impressive. If he plays the way he's practicing, he's going to be something Sunday."

Big decision for Glenn: Receiver Terry Glenn opted to get loose cartilage removed from his right knee instead of undergoing micro-fracture surgery in September. He has a hole in his right knee and again must decide whether to have micro-fracture surgery, which could sideline him for a significant time or even end his career. Glenn had a cyst removed from his knee during training camp.

Phillips said Glenn and receiver Terrell Owens were not playing with pain Sunday, "but I thought they played injured." He commended both for their efforts.

Jones working on next season's Dallas Cowboys
Cowboys owner says expectations have been raised for 2008 season

Wednesday, January 23, 2008

TERRY GLENN

Do the Cowboys want Terry Glenn? Yes and no. Glenn (right) needs microfracture surgery, and the recovery for that could be at least one year. Glenn had two surgeries to his right knee this season, and doctors told him he needs microfracture surgery. Yet, Glenn was determined to play this season and decided against the surgery. Jerry Jones said he will speak with Glenn about his future.

"That's something I will sit down again, over the days ahead and talk to him about," Jones said. "He put a lot of himself into coming back. It was a whole bunch of incentive there."

Glenn might not need surgery: Wide receiver Terry Glenn, who played in one regular season game and one playoff game this season, says he might be able to put off further surgery on his right knee.

Glenn had two surgeries to his right knee this season, and doctors have told him he needs microfracture surgery, which may take a year of recovery.

But Glenn said he is looking into the possibility that the surgery could be done at a later time, allowing him to continue playing.

Jones has said he will speak with Glenn about his future.

Jones was then asked about Terry Glenn's future.

"My gut and my feel is he's going to come back and play without surgery," said Jones, a feeling he said he's gotten from Glenn. "I haven't had the opportunity to visit with him. But I've had it through third party and got a sense for how he's feeling right now, which is good news.

"I don't know (if he can be the same guy). All I know is he got real impressive a couple weeks before our playoff game. That still is not the complete picture of what he can and will do relative to our receivers. But he's going be a factor."

Jones was then asked about protecting against injury at the position, something to which he said, "We should. And we saw Terrell, it was certainly a part of it, Terrell wasn't full speed. That's not an excuse, but he was not full speed. And we saw what could happen to you at times when you get him limited, and certainly we had to deal with Terry just coming back from his.

"I don't think that was a primary impact on that last ballgame. Still, you see what can happen. And what we were getting from Terrell before that last ballgame, you could see it fell of a little bit."

Glenn says no to surgery: Glenn had two surgeries on his right knee, forcing him to miss 15 regular-season games last year, and doctors told him he needs microfracture surgery in the near future but can continue to play without it. He has elected to forgo surgery and plans to play in '08.

"I'm excited about coming back, and I'm glad the team has the confidence in me to return," Glenn said. "I think we have a great team, and I want to be a part of it. I'm very thankful to be around great ownership."

Owens is entering a contract year, and Jones' stated desire to add a "wow" factor to the offense has centered on finding a complement to the All-Pro. But Jones isn't so sure that there's not already enough on the roster.

Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd, Miles Austin and Isaiah Stanback will return. And if Terry Glenn can come back at full strength, after two knee surgeries in 2007, Jones says a veteran addition may not be necessary.

"I know we've got it in house if Terry Glenn can do it," Jones said. "I am thinking positive about Terry Glenn. I don't have any idea how he is going to continue to go, but he is going to be very much a part of our plans.

"We may have the best thing since ice cream in house in terms of a veteran receiver that you can get to come in, and that would take the heat off and really add balance to Terrell Owens."

Glenn a 50-50 proposition
Sun, Apr 27, 2008

After his press conference, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones held court with a small group of reports and put a harder definition on the status of injured receiver Terry Glenn.

"Not because I'm sitting here without having drafted a receiver or having done a free-agent deal, Terry's got a 50 percent chance," Jones said, citing the steps Glenn made last year and has taken in the early stages of the offseason program.

So you wondering why the Cowboys are here three-and-a-half-months after the season ended, without an a addition at receiver and the draft in the rear-view mirror? That's one reason why. Another is that the progress of younger receivers already on the roster.

"What are the odds of Terry Glenn coming back? 20 percent? 30 percent? 40 percent?" Jones asked. "What are the odds are, if you got the very best receiver in the draft, of that guy this coming year, not long-term, (making an impact)? What are the odds of (Sam) Hurd and those guys taking another step?

"You add our in-house guys and the odds on Terry Glenn, against finding the free agent that really could be the balancing act over there to Terrell (Owens), and our best odds were here right now. They're not unrealistic odds."

So what does Glenn have a 50 percent chance of doing? "Of being exactly what we want, which is a veteran guy that the defenses are afraid of, that can play the season," Jones said.

Terry Glenn is ready to go
4:30 PM Wed, May 21, 2008
Tim MacMahon
So says Jerry Jones.

But Terry Glenn and the Cowboys' brass don't believe it's in anybody's best interests to test his surgically repaired knee during OTAs, which are basically teaching sessions. As a result, the plan is for Glenn to continue to sit out these sessions.

"I assume, and I think he does too, that he'll be fine come training camp," Tony Romo said. "I think he'll surprise you with just his level of play."
