The Buckeyes ended the regular season on a strong note on Friday night, defeating the Wisconsin Badgers 34-6 at St. John Arena.

Besides Bo Jordan dropping his first loss of the season to his cousin Isaac in the opening match at 165 and Hunter Stieber’s overtime loss at 149, the Buckeyes swept the Badgers in dominant fashion.

Jake Ryan ended the night in dramatic fashion, pinning TJ Roschell in the final match of the dual.

Defending national champion Nate Tomasello and 2015 World Champion Kyle Snyder both secured tech falls in the victory.

Seniors Johnni DiJulius, Mark Martin and Kenny Courts picked up impressive wins on senior night. For Courts, it took overtime against Ryan Christensen to bring home the win, but the All-American escaped out the back door with 33 seconds remaining to win 6-4.

Martin took a 4-3 lead into the third period and escaped from the bottom to help set up a takedown and 6-3 victory.

DiJulius, who is Ohio State’s active wins leader, dominated from the whistle in a 10-2 ove Jens Lantz. The senior, who was scheduled to wrestle Ryan Taylor, who’s ranked at 133, took a 6-0 lead into the second period, and never looked back.

Two freshman also picked up big wins for the Buckeyes.

At 174, Myles Martin continued to show his strong improvement from the beginning of the year, controlling from the top position in his 12-1 win over Ricky Robertson. Martin used tilts to build up 7 points in the second period, and finished the match with total control to ride out the third.

Micah Jordan also picked up a major decision 10-1 win over Gabe Grahek at 141. The 4th ranked wrestler in the country at that weight class out muscled Grahek throughout the match, taking an 8-1 lead into the third. Jordan locked down four points for his team with a late reversal with less than four seconds left.

With the win, the Buckeyes end the regular season at 10-3 and 7-2 in the conference.

Ohio State will start the dual postseason on Feb. 21st when they host a lower seeded team in the NCWA Dual Championship series.

Big Ten’s individual tournament begins on Mar. 5th in Iowa City. The NCAA Championships will follow the week after at Madison Square Garden.
