WStripes and Mass JG Speculation (Split)

I know one thing for sure...Y'all better hold off settling his commitment vBet until his name is on the dotted line because this kid could EASILY change his mind overnight. It's like asking your girlfriend to marry you. You spend months talking yourself into it and then get all excited about it. After she says "yes", you freak out and start to think about all the bad things about her that get magnified after marriage.

I just have a feeling that this could be a similar situation and Jason could easily change his mind after the announcement. Jason rides his emotions and likes a little press (sound like another recent RB recruit?). I think the kid wears cardinal next year either way because USC is simply a more stable program right now. I've been prepared for him to pick the Trojans since day one. If we don't get him, I haven't lost anything...if we pull off the upset, it's all gravy.

"If we get him then we could possibly be looking at another Championship in one or two years!"
With the truly mind boggling roster of talented coming in on the Offensive line ala Boone, Mitchum, Cordle, and so on ... Then with the even better, more mature, Defense that has even more talent coming in next year ala Gholsten, Freeman, Hoobler, O'Niel and the "Animal jr." Laurinaitis etc etc ... OH MY ... you have one hell of a program that seems to be stepping it up quietly as far as being in contention for more National Championships. It is going to be a real treat to see Teddy Ginn and company in the next few years playing. No matter what happens on February 2nd, 2005, OSU has more National Championships coming ... Mark that down !

USC took six RBs (2 in 2002 and 4 in 2003) before last year.
Bottom line is that Jason knows that he has more of a chance to get early playing time at Ohio State than he would at USC. Not even the USC gurus coming over hear can deny that fact. Fact is that NOW USC has two all-American TB's already in there playing. The question of IF they may go pro next year is a non-issue because its speculation. I don't think Jason or any recruit wants to take that chance if they think rationally about it. They want to know facts NOW. Fact is now that OSU gives a more favorable chance for Jason to start early.
"West Virginia could get me ready for the pros in a way that these two other teams can't.
Correct me please if I am wrong but doesn't Ohio State currently have something like 42 players in the NFL at present? Hasn't Ohio State been in the top ten for the last 25 years as to the most players in the NFL? I have seen the list recently and I know West Virginia was nowhere near that (not knocking the WVU program). Last year alone OSU had 14 players go pro. The National media exposure alone would give him as good of a chance to go pro as it would for him at WVU.

USC is the "hot" team right now, but the funny thing about that is that now they have a bullseye on their back and things tend to even out in the end to bring teams back down to reality. Just ask teams like Florida State, Oklahoma, Miami, or even Nebraska about that ...

It's just a matter of questions wether Jason wants to be a part the great runningback tradition Ohio State has here in Columbus. If he does then WOW he will do very well at Ohio State with his running style. IF he chooses to go west ... well then even the west coast gurus know (but won't admit yet) he'll be a great one someday .... just not in the next few years. Good Luck Jason wherever you decide. You will be fun to watch. I just hope it's here in the "Shoe" with 105 thousand fans screaming your name. Not out west were only until recently they have had the Colosseum filling up consistently with maybe 60k or 70k people (hehe had to get that dig in Methomps).

maybe you should go read the forum rules, this is borderline in my opinion. Ensure your posts are respectful to the recruit.

where is this comment going?
Not meant as disrespectful. I should have left it as "He rides his emotions" which I believe is evidenced by the fact that he has "committed" to WV, decommited and commited to USC and now is totally on the fence. On further review, the part about the press and everything in the parenthesis was in bad taste.

About USC being a more stable program, I just mean that they seem like a safer bet right now. As much as I love tOSU, public perception is not identical to that of us Buckeye fans. Right now, USC is coming off 1 and 1/2 national championships, recruits are flooding in, NCAA investigators are nowhere to be found and they have talent to burn. We are coming off a 4 loss season and a lot of poor public speculation, lies and ESPN running us into the ground. I am in NO way suggesting that I feel USC is a better program in the long run, but these things go in cycles and I feel that right now USC has a slight advantage. In recruiting, the truth doesn't matter nearly as much as the publics perception of the truth and it will take us a while to clean up the image that the media has portrayed.

I was saying all of this to make a point that, to a recruit, USC has a higher floor than Ohio State right now, while both programs have a similar ceiling. That, to me, demonstrates that USC would seem to be a more "safe" pick.

Why was my playing time post deleted from the JG thread?
because the JG thread was for updated info. This thread is for speculation.
However, the JG thread is now locked.

I agree with Ed on the O-Zone: :)

Only a Hollywood type could enjoy the attention Gwaltney is getting right now through the recruiting process. That says to me that he is going to SC to be close to where everybody wants and strives to be a center of attention. Don't give me the explanation that he is just a man-child looking for a school. He has carried the process to the point where his own coach says it's insane. What are you talking about? 48%?

Guys, it is very unfortunate that the original thread had to be locked but when you have nearly 900 posts in one thread....it becomes extremely time consuming to split the off topic posts due to the irregular pattern of the posts. They are not in complete chronological order when you use the "split" function. I know everyone is excited about the JG announcement and it is near impossible not to speculate in the thread. However, Nutty and 86 set a precedent for those forums that we all appreciated and admired. Until Clarity says otherwise, it the responsibility of the mods to keep that previously set level.

We will still post all available updates in that thread, but all conversation will have to be done here.

Hopefully, this will be the only thread for this approach. Let's get through NLOID peacefully.

wstripes info is rock solid as is NevadaBucks.....ive pm'd with both and know both of their lines of sources....
the only better source you could have would be hanging out with JG himself....
Just out of curiosity, if you "pm'd" me and I told you I was actually John Peterson would you vouch for my credibility? I mean, how do you know these people actually have connections to these sources? I have quite a bit of experience in the security field in the military and I would never take at face value someone's claim of sources. I ask this question not to attack either Wstripes or NevadaBuck. I am only trying to get a sense of how much weight I should give your post.

I agree 100% Oiler. Don't feel at all bad about saying that.
