I've always liked them
When I was down at OU this weekend I realized how much damage the campus partners temperance union has done to this school. OU has about 15 more bars than OSU does now. Campus Partners, and Holtool need to fark off. The social scene at this school has sunk to an all time low with their absurd positions about alcohol.

OU has always had more bars than Ohio State... cuz there is nothing better to do in Athens than just drink drink and drink some more. Well, that or go to the few farms in the hills and smoke it up :wink2:

I am still pissed I graduated before the BW3s & Damons came to town.

You mean OSU still has bars? :roll1:

I say the next OSU student that gets a DUI driving back to campus from the bars should sue Holbrook (cunt). Actually, all of them should. It's her fucking fault there aren't any bars near or on campus anymore...stupid bitch. She deserves a life of being flailed with a cat of nine tails.

As a 37 year old alumni, I think that the idea of nice stores and restaurants on High St. is pretty good. I'd like that sort of thing now. However, I can certainly understand the current students' point of view. If I was there now as a student, I'd be pissed about it, too.

Man, were things different when I was at OSU. I was there from '87-'92, and you couldn't swing a dead cat on High St. without hitting a bar. The block between 11th and 10th was pretty much all bars. The cops would string up ropes between the telephone poles on the sidewalk to keep the crowds of staggering drunks from falling into traffic.

Papa Joe's, High Energy, Mr. Mustard's, Mother Fletchers (then Purity), Park Place (?), BW3 South, The Locker Room.... Going north was pretty much the same thing- Presley's (anyone else remember Presley's? It's a bookstore now.), Street Scene (now Chipolte), The Newport, Flying Tomato, North Berg, I can't even remember them all.

:drunks:

Piney,

after I left they got a BW3, Damons, Ruby Tuesday, WalMart, etc. etc....

I don't know if you've been down their recently... as far as bars are concerned the Junction, Pub, CI, PigSkin, and maybe the Crystal (might have changed the name) are the only bars still there since we left. In all my years nothing changed while down there (well, except for the nicolodean...sp.... going under).... lots of new bars replaced the old ones. The food joints have all changed as well...

I was down there about 2-3 years ago and notice the Night Court changed... dang that was a great bar. The names may change but they all still serve beer, and that's what matters most :drunks:

We might have went at the same time.... Class of '97 here. I remember the Nick (much easier then thinking of the full name) going down my Senior year... ahhhh no one could beat that place on a Friday afternoon... $.05 beers from 4pm-7pm on Fridays... now that was a way to kick off the weekend!

I still don't remember my shuffle senior year except for those photos and a shirt that was so ripped up and marked on that half the stuff is unreadable... ahhhhh, the good ol times!

I witnessed the burning of "Papa Joe's" and "Waterbeds and Stuff". I carried buckets of beer home from "Mean Mr. Mustards". I was chased from "South Heidleberg" by red-haired punk rockers, and was run over by a car in front of "Buckeye Beverage". I was banned from "Flyers" and puked in "Maxwell's". I took a sh!t behind the "PIT" and scored at "Not Al's (something or another)". I watched a riot from "Hang on Sloopy's(?)" and passed out in front of "Magnolia Thunderpussy". And all that was just the first week I lived there. It was an alcoholic's dream!

Piney,

You're a bit older although we were there for a few years... My first year at OU was in '95...

Thump,

When you had a fake you didn't go to the chees to often... At the cheese, I've seen girls chew (and spit) tobacco, people basically have sex on the dance floor, fights where bottles were broken over folks heads, ladies pee in the mens urinal, etc... That place was the ultimate meat market (even worse than Maxwells for you OSU guys), to often you introduce yourself to the girl the next morning as you try to find your clothes :tongue2:
