the 3x more powerful comments stem from XBox's 3 core (3 processors on one chip) each running at something like 3 Ghz vs the Cell processor that PS3 will use that is a ridiculous 9 core chip.... the performance difference is the ability to multitask MUCH more effiecently.
Key thing that I understand though is that unless the games are specifically wrote to take advantage of the 9 cores, there isn't much improvement.
I did here the effective performance of the chip was over 5.6 Ghz...
Multi core processors are it seems the future of CPUs... we shall see.
