Xbox controller help, please!

Dumbass me bought an Xbox controller withought really reading what it was. It's a cordless one called Street. The problem is it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have one of these and are they meant for a regular Xbox? If so, any idea why it won't work? I have batteries in it and the little green light comes on but when I push a button nothing happens. Even worse is I forgot to ask for a reciept because I was in a hurry. Argh!

Yes but it's black, says it's for Xbox, and says Street instead of Blade

Of course I did. Even if I did get a reciept I wouldn't have been able to return it because the store says all sales are final.

It's that but in black and where it says Blade says Street.
