Yes Buckeye fans, there IS a Woody Hayes.

HINYG8

You never come back from Copperhead Road
Forget Christmas eve and wish lists to Santa..in my household...THIS is the day..and we send our wish list up to Woody.

I've been good all year, made my list, and instead of leaving out cookies and milk I will soon hoist the Block O up the flagpole in front of the house. Gotta make sure Woody can find me.

This year I might even leave a Buckeye or two and a beer out for Woody....he loves chocolate and peanut butter more than Elvis loves peanut butter and bananas, and I want to thank the ole ball coach for taking the time to drop off my hopes for this year's Ohio State football team. And if it would help my case..well I can't be too careful or cut corners now.... it's decided: I'm going to leave some Buckeyes and a Bleeding Buckeye Ale on ice in front of the coach..just in case the flag out front isn't enough and Woody needs some refreshments before moving on to the next good Buckeye's house.

So I'll start to find out tomorrow if Woody is going to deliver everything I have asked him for. I don't think it is too much and this time around it all seems pretty reasonable. I am sure you will all agree. Here is my list:

1) Another 14-0 National Championship season to bookend 2002. For many programs their era of greatness is tied to one singular coach..but at OSU each coach is another ring in our Buckeye Tree of success..time for Urban to make his mark and put the 8th ring on our tree.

2) A Heisman for Braxton. Winning Heismans is a good time.. no one knows more than OSU about how it is done..time for another party.

3) Three shut outs for our D and a return of the Silver Bullets. We have young play makers and potential all over the field..hey Woody..guide these pups to greatness...teach 'em to bite right now. Let's start fast and finish HARD!

4) When the confetti settles and they are asking Braxton what he wants to do now that he has a NC and a Heisman..he looks into the camera and tells us he is going to reaffirm his friendship. Archie has sat alone in Valhalla long enough and it is time he had some company....and if he is going to add a table settling..Archie has asked that a Buckeye join him.

5) The biggest reach..the B10 finally strikes down their policy about OSU coaches getting the nod for COT...and Urban gets recognized with some hardware.

What presents are on your list? Take a moment to send it up to Woody so he knows what to bring you this season; and while you are at it: thank him for building this magnificent stage that is football at THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY.

LET'S GO BUCKS...BEAT BUFFALO!

I'll be happy with......

1. A healthy team, especially avoiding injury to some of the guys we can't afford to lose for a long period of time, i.e. Braxton, Shazier, Roby, Mewhort
2. Sound and fundamental tackles by the defense
3. scUM and PSU epic failures of a season

If we're healthy and we tackle, I think the rest will take care of itself.

Well said, couldn't agree more.

Don't under estimate the Walmart Wolverine in their natural habitat. I can already hear "all-time winningest program."
Between Texas, Notre Dame, Nebraska and us, in 14 games against them (13 seasons at least) one of them should catch up. Because if they lose 14 straight, clearly, they're not going to be good enough to only lose one game every season.

NEGATORY GOOD BUDDY!!!

I want them both to have a great season and experience epic losses to our beloved Buckeyes on a national stage so all doubt will be removed as to who really is the best of the best.

Would that everyone on our schedule has but one blemish on their record this year. A loss to us. :urban2:

OH!

Know how ya feel MB, deep down I feel the same way. Buuut, the best way to win those style points (and lock down an NC appearance) is with quality wins against quality opponents. Beat the pants off a few ranked teams and let the whiners whine all they want, those with a clue will know the Bucks EARNED their rightfu

This thread is great.

I guess if I could ask Coach Hayes for one thing, it would simply be for a minute of his time. Nothing more. To do nothing more than share names and handshakes. And thank him for making me a fan of TOSU, the GREATEST UNiversity on the Planet.

Peace

Along with the items above that go into a team we are proud of on the field, my wish is for these young men to have success off of the field:
  1. To take advantage of the educational opportunity they have in front of them.
  2. To understand the vastness of the network of support and community that being a Buckeye brings.
  3. To become the next generation of leaders in our communities.
  4. Last but not least a healthy season, full of amazing memories of being Buckeyes & Champions
