Yea but NBA rookies are paid poorly, compared to NFL rookies, who can't afford to pull a stunt like this.

1st pick - Rookie season salary*: $3,885,000
9th pick - Rookie season salary*: $1,779,500

Damn I wish I could be paid that poorly......

Seriously though, Oden himself is just fine being with the Blazers and if you look at their team, they have the beginnings, at least, of a contender.

after the horror of thinking he might end up in the worst city in the NBA after Detroit (but at least in Detroit he'd win), NYC woudl probably be a nice destination.
Pre-draft speculation stated that NYC was one of his preferred destinations.

He's probably going to suck anyway. And he is a puppet of the Chinese government. Undoubtedly, it is Beijing that is telling him under what conditions he can leave and live the life of an American. They control where Chinamen can go...any 20-year-old Chinaman would do whatever it takes to get over to the US to become a millionaire if the choice was theirs. I don't think it is logical to assume he's a "primadonna."

Milwaukee has nothing except fatasses with brats and beer.

There's truth to this. Many years ago I lived in Milwaukee for a little over a year. When I moved to Chicago, 20 pounds of fat instantly fell off my ass.

I don't really have a dog in this fight but I have to call bullshit when I smell it. Are we talking about the same Chicago that was named America's fattest city in 2006? I can see how you would miss noticing all the fatties with all the good looking women that are walking around the city but still, facts are facts. Compare that to Milwaukee which was named the 5th fittest. Fat asses with brats and beer huh? Try asshole with too much time and not enough friends.

Apparently I should have used the sarcasm font.

personal squabbles aside its up to stern at this point to do something. not for yi and the bucks but for the future of the league. if he wants a truly international league, he needs to find away to put a transfer agreement in place. the nhl has a four year agreement with czech republic, sweeden, finland, germany, switzerland and slovakia. the agreement governs all movements from non north american leagues associated with the iihf and from those countries listed to the nhl (and its feeding system). the same agreement governs the 2010 olympics and the world championships. basically how it works is 9million is paid for the first 45 players and each player costs 200k, paid by the nhl. then non nhl players or players who play less than 30 games cost 50 to 100k depending on the round drafted (europeans who played jrs in canada and are headed to the nhl essentially) 27.4 percent of the players are from iihf countries in the nhl.

I'm probably the only one on here who is a bucks fan...Milwaukee that is... I don't see YI going anywhwere. Most of the "chinamen" (ha ha) want Yi to play with the Bucks...it seems the only the doesn't is one owner of the chinese team and his agent... Milwaukee isn't trading this guy and he can't play for another NBA team unless Milwaukee does.

They don't have much leverage other than "Yi won't play in the NBA". If he really wants to, he suit up in Milwaukee.

If he is good enough - endorsements will come. Cleveland, San Antonio, Minneapolis - all house superstars that garner millions...

imo- it is just a matter of time before this one is a done deal.
