There are quite a few of us that are (or were) from the city of Youngstown that might be interested
in this, but ESPN will be airing a special called the "Youngstown Boys". It mainly has to do with
Maurice Clarett and Jim Tressel and the Youngstown area and other things. It will be aired on Dec 14th
but I am not sure of the time. Just thought I would put this out for anyone who was interested.

Thanks. Me being one of those folks I am interested to see it. I saw this mentioned in the Clarett thread, and couldn't help but wonder what the angle will be. Mo C seems excited about it, but is it going to be a vehicle to highlight how rotten the Youngsotwn area and these two really are, and how corrupt Tressel is and was (with his fixed raffles and all), and how he instilled a cheating culture at tOSU? Or, will it simply be the highs and lows of their respective careers, and chronicle their relationship - an unbiased documentary?

I can't tell if the sarcasm font should have applied here??

Fortunately, of the 30-for-30 series shows I've seen, none of them had any hidden agendas. My understanding is that these films are made not under the guidance/supervision/control of ESPN...

Maybe a little - or the I'm-still-a-little-bitter font.

That's good to hear. I assume that Clarett screened it, or at least has some idea of the content, so it would make sense that he'd be excited for people to see it being that it is coming from a more independent source. I just don't want to see a hit piece. I can deal with the bad stuff because it did happen, just be fair.

The bolded is correct. ESPN has given full control of content and angles to the directors/producers. The one they did on Miami's culture of corruption back in their heyday was done by the same guy who did Cocaine Cowboys (who happens to be a UM grad, but he pulled no punches in that 30 for 30). Outside of actual sporting events, these are the only thing I watch on the spin channel.

Is this a special on "How To Steal Any Car in under 5 minutes" ? or "You are Mistaken IF You THINK The Ohio Mob capital is Cleveland"
Anyone who has even thought that Youngstown was no longer the mob capital of Ohio (and second in the Midwest to Chicago) isn't from Ohio...

FSU's quarterback is under investigation for raping a woman and it's pretty obvious the case was botched by police a year ago... time to rehash some dirt on Ohio State from 10 years ago and help sweep this ongoing case under the rug :roll2:

This film has been in the works for at least 18 months. Directed by Jeff & Michael Zimbalist, who were responsible for the 30-for-30 film The Two Escobars, which is arguably the best of the series. Their work is regularly acclaimed at Tribeca, Cannes, and the Los Angeles film festivals, and they have been nominated for Emmys and Oscars.

I expect this story will be a little deeper than a corporate smear piece.

Cypress Church on Alton-Darby road in West Columbus is hosting a viewing party. MoC will be there. The pastor there, Ken Murphy, interviewed Maurice a year or two ago and Maurice did a speaking engagement at the church. He has quite a relationship with them.
