It IS heavy with OSU players, but not too heavy. Ohio State wins the B10 conference every year, how can they not have the largest percentage of All Big Ten Players?

Position by position, how do you think it will stack up against the SECs' or the B12's All Conference Teams? While I'm gonna root for the B10 OOC, and I think they'll do a little better this year, I still don't think they'll be the best conference. (I hope I'm wrong! )

Pretty good list. You listed Gilreath as from Minnesota, I know it was probably just a typo but just wanted let you know. Do you think Jaamal is going to get enough touches to be in the running for FOY? Barring and injury to Boom or Saine, I'd be kinda surprised at this point if he did. I'd love to see him light the conference on fire though.

Thanks for the catch. Jaamal is the type of player that faces a Clarret-esque situation. He has two unproven RB's ahead of him that have promise. Boom and Saine have to prove much still, and I could see Berry getting on the field more as the year goes on. I looked around on commit lists and the most likely imo are those 3. I also feel Justin Green could make an impact at corner for Illinois.

IIRC Green is playing RB for Illinois.

Good thread but I actually started an All Big Ten thread if the mods could merge them. Only big indifference I would have is that Wooten from Northwestern has to be a first team DE imo...in fact, I would say he could quite possibly be the Big 10 DPLOY.

Oops sorry for making a similar thread, but thanks mods for merging them.

I think we don't rival the SEC in top notch talent, but I do think the depth is there. The quality of teams are going to improve this year imo. I think Minnesota can surprise with Decker and Webber back, Michigan State lost some people but have young talent, Illinois has tons of talent, Wisconsin will improve and has a star in Clay, Michigan will be improved likely with Forcier (and maybe Robinson), and Penn State is a legit top 10 team imo. The only duds imo will be Indiana and maybe Northwestern, but that depends on the developement of Kakfa at QB. Look for us to compete more on a national level is all I'm saying.

To expound upon that point more (I had to run to work), here is where I stack the Big 10 up:
- I think either of OSU or PSU could consistently compete with anyone in the top 10, save Florida
- The Big 12 is right behind the SEC. Oklahoma State will be tough, in addition to powerhouses in Oklahoma and Texas. Tech could be tough and the same can be said for Kansas. I feel Colorado and Missouri could surprise, especially Mizzou with Gabbert at QB.
- Next comes the Big 10 imo (not too far behind Big 12), with the Pac 10 right behind them. USC is dominant but that is it for the upper echelon teams. Teams like Oregon, Oregon State, Cal and Arizona state could compete, but I feel they aren't quite up to par with PSU, Mich. St., Illinois, Wisky, and Minnesota this year.
- The ACC just doesn't impress me, as I would put them right there with the Big East. FSU has underwhelmed, as have the Hurricanes. Clemson ends up tanking, North Carolina hasn't shown much under Davis, Wake had one good year, and Duke, UVA, and Maryland are duds. Virginia Tech may be fairly tough, but I really don't see them as a top 15 team. Imo, Georgia Tech should be the best team this year and maybe the only top 15 team in the ACC. Clemson has some potential, as does Miami, but I just think this is an overrated conference.

In a totally unbiased view of your offensive preseason All Big Ten RB07OSU, I thought for about every one of the OSU players that they "haven't earned that yet." At the same time I don't doubt Posey and Herron and (to a lesser extent on the earning it bit) Pryor, etc. will be amazing. That is what makes this season so exciting.

If you look at collegefootballnews they rank our team highly but in their unit rankings we come out quite low. How can they say we have top ten running back or linebacker groups? They can't know. There isn't the data. But obviously, due to our high team ranking, they, like me, expect good things to happen.

I love seasons like this, seasons where I am so excited to see who our next breakout linebacker is, but expect to be fine at all three linebacker positions no matter what. This is a season where I trust in Herron and expect he may take a huge step to stardom, but I am also excited to see Berry and Saine and what they can do. Will Flash and Posey light up the field? Will Small put things together?

It is hard to pick OSU players for the preseason rankings right now, but I can't wait to see where we would place many of our guys at the end of the year. We are going to see one or two jersey numbers skyrocket in sales and may right now not even know which numbers those will be. . .

I thought so too, so I did what I always do; I ran the numbers.

They ranked Ohio State's offense at 7th in the country, while the average rank of our offensive units is 14.75. Funny thing is, there are only 5 teams in the country with a higher average rank for their offensive units. They actually UNDER-ranked our total offense by 1 spot, based on the sum of the parts.

On defense, the average rank for our units was 19th, which is tied with TCU for 12th best of the FBS schools. The rank of 11 for the overall defense is only one place higher that that.

Overall, the Buckeyes are ranked right about where the perceived sum of the parts would put them.

Interesting, and thanks.

When I looked I just saw LB and RB and I think DL. And we were around 30 for the first two and 12 or so for the 3rd.

And Btw: I'm glad their rankings line up. That is about the only site I trust for news. It is my read on the train to work every day. . .

I first saw some of the unit rankings and though of the quote from one of the OSU players (forget who) that we were picked to win the big ten because of past players and the standards they set. . .

I am so psyched for this year. These are my favorite years: the years I get to make new man-crushes on new players. Wow that sounded gay. (NTTIAWWT)
