Zach Smith (Official Thread)

Not sure if already posted, but here's his mother's statement as it appeared in The Dispatch this morning.

“I understand there is great interest in college football and the personalities involved. But that does not give anyone the right to invade the privacy and personal health information of mothers whose sons happen to play college football,” the statement said. “The NCAA cleared Trevon for eligibility based on their rules after I provided the required documentation about my illness. My oncologist has attested to it. For anyone to accuse me of making up an illness for any reason is vile and hurtful.

“Coach Urban Meyer has been a good friend to both me and Trevon during this entire process, and to accuse him of misconduct in this case is unfair as well. He tried to help any way he could, including referring me to doctors at Ohio State he thought could help.

“If my ex-husband is the person spreading these rumors, everyone should know that neither I nor Trevon have any contact with him whatsoever. He knows nothing about my health and nothing about Trevon’s transfer to UF. ...

“I know that stories about college football coaches and players will continue to be news, but I ask that my health be kept out of it. I did not ask to be in the spotlight, and I am angry that someone has tried to put me there.”

This is a shit show

McMurphy thriving and dying by exploiting toxic relationships that put kids in the middle of it.
That's the real story here.

There's malice based on your (and my) definition and then there's the legal definition. Sadly, a combination of first amendment and legal definitions of malice likely make any recourse a non-starter.

Maybe. But as any soulless freight train of an organization knows... sometimes you can suffocate your enemies by dragging them through the process. I have no problem with the University going after Stadium and making McMurphy as unemployable as Zach Smith.

This never ends. Zach Smith is analogous to the Kardashian’s - if people stop paying attention to them they’ll eventually go away. As for Bert, he’s a low form of human that has absolutely zero credibility. I heard Hooley defending the indefensible this am on 105.7 and thought he did himself no favors trying to defend a fellow “journalist “ (vommit) for just reporting the story. That’s bull shit. A story should be factual and objective not one sided accounts from estranged family members with nothing to lose and rooted in spiteful vindication. Bert did not honor journalistic integrity as immediately proven by every member of zone 6 and OSU who only released their full throated statement having full confidence. Why defend Bert who unequivocally has a vendetta against Urban which shamefully is hurting innocent people in an effort to resurrect his career. Bruce...come on man

I heard that too. I will say this, that was as much of a rebuke as you'll ever hear Hooley give to another media member. I don't disagree with anything you said, but anyone who thought Hooley would not defend or otherwise treat McMurphy with kid gloves was fooling themselves. The next time Hooley says a media member was wrong will be the first.

While he avoided saying what we all know about Fuckstain's integrity and ethics, dismissing it out of hand, he did say that he found the story as unreportable the way it was as it was not well sourced and didn't make any logical sense.

That’s a fair point and I was probably being too critical. Suggesting he doesn’t have a vendetta against Urban is ludicrous however. I heard the National guys on Sirius fundementally say the same thing which is as good as a rebuke of fartstain as you’ going to get.

There is clearly malice. It's just about whether you can prove it or not at this point and ignoring him doesn't seem to make him go away. So you options are open yourself up discovery by Zach Smith by burying him or hope he gets bored and tries to find another target. And it clearly looks like Herman is involved in feeding him info.
Bingo. If McMurphy gets away with this, he'll just be more emboldened to continue to harass Meyer and the university in any way he can. I say turn the OSU legal staff loose and let them go scorched earth on Stadium and McMurphy...

It’s impossible to be too critical of Hooley
