Smith was a grad assistant under Urban Meyer at Florida, winning a pair of national championships and dominating the SEC along the way. Michigan might remember that Ohio State won the first ever College Football Playoff not even six months ago.

If they didn't, Smith made sure to remind the Wolverines of that.

He's responding for the amusement if h.s. kids. I don't like the tactics of putting down others to make yourself look better. I especially think it's a bad strategy when you're attempting to put down the reigning national champs. Austin Mack, a top wr recruit just picked osu over us, so maybe we should just focus on our coaches accomplishments and not worry about osu. After we beat them this November, then we can take some shots.

This guy gets it. Although he goes ra-tard at the end.

My favorite part of the poster is how little he actually had to do with any of those guys:
1) Derrick Mason was already one of the better receivers in the NFL before he got to Baltimore
2) Brandon Marshall first Pro Bowl had more to do with the development of Cutler who attempted 149 more passes than the previous year
3) Eddie Royal Started more games his rookie year than any other year.
4) Eric Decker was already a good receiver before Fisch got there. Decker only played 6 games under Fisch his senior year due to injury.
5)Travis Benjamin's YPC dropped from 17.3 to 14.9 when Fisch showed up. Hasn't done much in NFL.
6) Allen Hurns didn't do much after his first game.
7) Phillip Dorsett who committed to Miami before Fisch got there, is so fast it doesn't matter who his coach was because he would've been a high pick. Fisch only coached him as a Fr. and So.
8) Stokley had a decent year in 2008 for the Broncos, but then again Cutler threw 149 more times
9) All of those coaches that he coached under did nothing while Fisch was there
10) He can't hold on to a job because he sucks

Carlos Spicywiener actually had some intelligent posts, like:

1) there is absolutely no way you can pin the so called "insecurity" on Smith alone. If Fisch signed off on that flyer I think he needs to grow up.

2) ok. show me a similar flyer osu's made. something concrete, you know, not something as trivial as offering the same kids hoke offered , not twiddling their thumbs while we were 5-7, or having the audacity to flip mike weber.

3) i was referring to a flyer that specifically targeted a position coach on another school's staff, which might understandably lead to a confrontation.

40 wow, thats an impressive amount of rationalization to justify what's a pretty immature flyer. point blank.
look, im all for smacking ohio state the f**k up, but i'm not a blind fanboy. if the situation was reversed, this thread would have at least a 100 more comments complaining about how classless it is to single out a coach on michigan's staff, minding his own business.
ive said my piece. this comment tangent was started by making Smith out to be insecure for responding to a flyer attacking his professional failures, as if it was some kind of immature response. i certainly wouldnt take the high road if it happened to me.

It's hard to attribute development of any player to Fisch for one very fundamental reason: in his vaunted 17 year coaching career, he's had exactly 2 jobs that lasted more than 2 years:
- 2000-2003 as an Assistant to the HC for the Houston Texans (ie: glorified secretary)
- 2004-2007 as an Assistant Position Coach for the Ravens (not even the Position Coach itself, basically same as being a GA in the NFL)

He left every other job after 1 or 2 seasons. And the jobs he was able to keep for a little time weren't even Assistant Coaching jobs. This guy's entire career is a textbook example of the Peter Principle at work.

Find a cool graphic that summarizes this and send it to recruits. Maybe that would be a video of Fisch trying other common things for two years, but not being able to (I'm sure we will have lots of great submissions here). But everyone confirmed my initial thoughts, which were "Come play for a guy that nobody will keep more than two years."
