Zurp's Pick 'em 2011-2012

Wiscy plays on 9-1 and Sparty on 9-2.

I like the limited trades better than having to use points for trades.

I'll start with:

6 - Nebraska
3 - TSUN
1 - Indiana

I want to switch my teams to:

4 - Illinois
3 - TSUN
2 - Minnesota
1 - Indiana

After week 1, how many teams with zero B1G wins am I able to pick up by trading away a team with 1 point? There will be 7 teams with 0 B1G wins after tomorrow's games. :wink2:

Sorry I didn't ask this sooner. I'm assuming that the answer is that only a current team worth 0 can be traded for another team worth 0.

Yeah - this is fixed with the 1-point buying "penalty" thing. I guess that since it wasn't covered in the rules, it's too late to make a rule now. I think as long as we follow the "4 trades per week" rule, this game might be able to stay alive. At least on life-support.

Suggestion for next year's game: Just allow everybody to start off with 3 teams, and they are only allowed a single 1-for-1 trade each week. Everybody would always have 3 teams. and there wouldn't be any point values in the trades. But you only earn points for the 3 teams teams that you own each week - when you trade for a team you don't pick up their previous wins. So each participant would just score between 0 and 3 points each week, and the trades are simple.

Yeah - that's an idea. But I like the buying and selling of teams for different point values. I'll consider it, though.
Also, you're counting on me to remember something like this? I barely remembered that I actually made a post for THIS game.

Ha! Iowa has a bye and Purdue plays Notre Dame. I'm smart.
Sell Iowa (4) and Purdue (2)
Buy Michigan (3) and Northwestern (3)

Remember that points do not carry over from today to tomorrow. So make sure you make your picks. You have until noon tomorrow (eastern time).

I have Penn State (1), Michigan (1), and Northwestern (0).
There's no rule against buying all the 0-win teams I can for free. But that's pretty sneaky. I'm going to sell Penn State (1) and buy Illinois (1).

Crap - the smart thing to do is buy Nebraska (0). But... ugh.. I'd have to kick my own ass. I'm going to sell Northwestern (0) and buy Ohio State (0).

My teams are now Michigan (1), Illinois (1), and Ohio State (0).

I thought we had to trade a 0-point team for another 0-point team. That prevents somebody from doing a 1-team for 3-team trade, which wouldn't be fair.

My teams last week, and their current values:
1 - TSUN
1 - Illinois
0 - Minn
0 - Indiana

I want to trade Minn (0) and Indiana (0) for Nebraska (0) and Iowa (0).

My new teams:
1 - TSUN
1 - Illinois
0 - Nebraska
0 - Iowa

I'm all for that rule. In fact, without it, someone can just buy 4 winless teams without selling anyone. But you didn't bring that loophole up until the game actually started.

So.. yeah.. I can ASK that no one breaks this unofficial rule, but since I'm not paying attention to everyone's picks, I'm not going to pretend that I can make it an official rule. So if you buy a 0-win team without selling another 0-win team, I'm going to point and laugh at your nose.
