From the Purdue site...John participates in both the 100-meter dash and the shot and discus for Liberty. He is also a member of the bastketball team. He has a 3.65 GPA. Supposedly we had been showing increasing interest as of late, but John decided to pull the trigger during his visit to Purdue this past weekend.

I know John. He is a good kid and a great player. He has a few teamates at D1 schools like Iowa and Boston College so I am surprised he didn't go to one of those schools. He has a GREAT combination of size and speed. 11.1 100m dash is impressive for an OLB. He has been a 4 year starter on some damn good Youngstown Liberty teams. OSU was very interested and I bet they would of offered had John of waited.

grad, Liberty has had a few D1 prospects the last few years and all have verbaled way before the season started. Last year Marcellous Bowman verbaled to Boston College in the summer. Bradley Fletcher verbaled to Iowa around this time. I think coach Whittaker may like the kids to verbal early but I have no proof of that. If OSU still recruits him then they may get him. It is very early. I would like to see Hump go to OSU but there is nothing wrong with Purdue imo.

Exactly bro. How hard tOSU went after those kids would be my question...

If tOSU decides to come after him, I would assume they would at least get some serious consideration ala Wilson and Laurinatis.

Then again, he may have found his dream school and says he is not interested ala Stross and Lymon.

Either way, its early in the game.

O I didn't mean that OSU went after either of those kids. I just wanted to point out that Youngstown Liberty kids seems to verbal early. I do think Fletcher would have been a nice get for OSU though. He is going to be either start CB or be the nickel back as a true frosh. Bowman, at 6-3 200, may turn out to be a beast at safety.

The reason why some may not of heard of John is because Buckuts doesn't give too much coverage to Liberty players. I see a new article every week from Iggy or Glenville but nothing about any kids from Liberty even though the Leopards have put out some very good talent as of late.
