'06 OH OL/DL Billy Nagy (Wisconsin signee)

As I said before camp, I'll bet on Nagy getting an OSU offer the day after Senior advanced camp ends. A 5.0-5.1 40 at 295 for a OL/DL combo at 6'5" with his film is tough to turn away, and he wants to be a Buckeye. Smith, Brown, and Nagy at OL sounds good, and if another prime OL shows up on our doorstep, Nagy could jump to DT. I like it. Any unbiased observations of his camp performance out there?

OG/DT Bill Nagy

</TD><TD noWrap width=3></TD><TD vAlign=top>By Chris Pool Midwest Recruiting Analyst

Bill Nagy, the #12 offensive line prospect, in the Midwest, according to Scout.com, will see his ranking bumped up into the “Top 10” in August. Nagy has been impressive on film, at combines and at summer camps. Several schools have offered him a scholarship and it’s likely that he’ll give his verbal commitment before the start of his senior season.

Bill Nagy will be a three-year varsity starter on both sides of the ball in 2005. The 6-foot-4, 299-pounder, from Hudson, Ohio is a multi-sport athlete that also excelled in baseball before giving that sport up to concentrate on football.

WATCH NAGY ON FILM and you’ll see a big man that’s flexible, has good knee bend and he finishes. The later being the best of Nagy’s traits. Nagy projects as a guard or center at the next level and his future is definitely bright.

Wisconsin, Illinois, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Indiana, Toledo, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Duke and Louisville have all offered Nagy a scholarship.

“We’ve kind of shut things down here in July,” said Bill Nagy Sr., the father of offensive lineman, Bill Nagy.

“Bill isn’t talking to a whole lot of people this month. We’ve made a lot of visits and have been to a lot of camps. Talking to the other recruits and their parents has been something that we have really enjoyed.”

Does Mr. Nagy’s son have a leader at this point?

“I can tell you as his father that Bill has his schools that he’s looking at. He would like to make a commitment before the start of his senior season.

“On August 1st, we’re going to Illinois to meet with Mr. (Ron) Zook and his staff and after that we’re going to Wisconsin. The plan is to make a commitment before the season.”

Bill Nagy is the only freshman ever moved up to the varsity at Hudson. The school that does get Nagy’s verbal commitment will get a strong, tough, offensive lineman with good speed and a nasty streak.

IMO the staff is waiting to offer him so they don't scare off Brown/Smith. This kids's video is very impressive. For the past couple of years I have watched a passive OL not finish blocks. This guy is a angry bastard who finishes blocks on every play. He looks good both on offense and defense, and I know I am in the minority here, but I like him better on offense. He destroys people on the interior, on either side of the ball. (all observations based on video). I cannot believe he doesn't have an offer.

The dominos will begin to fall on August 1 with Smith's announcement. I believe that the staff will then know where they stand with Brown. If Nagy gets an offer, it will come shortly after, IMO. I still want Nagy. By the way, for any Nagy doubters, Alvarez' O-line and D-line recruiting record speaks for itself. Take the Wisc offer and Nagy's video to the bank. He will be good on either side of the ball.

Nagy recently visited Illinois and Wisconsin. Louisville and Boston College are recruiting him hard right now and Boston College is a good possiblity for an official visit.

(With the recent verbal by Connor Smith, Nagy's fate will be decided by the OSU staff soon I would imagine.)

According to one of the Hudson coaches, Nagy should know by this week if he has an OSU offer. According to the coach, Nagy has always been more than just a "big" kid. In the 8th grade Nagy was 6'2" 215 and was the full back on the middle school team. Imagine him lined up in front of Chris Wells in a short yardage situation.

Just got back from the free swim at the Cuyahoga Falls water park. Once again, the same Hudson assistant coach was there. At this point Nagy does NOT expect to get an offer from the Buckeyes.

According to the coach someone from the OSU staff (I forgot to ask who)
has very recently been in touch with Nagy. Again, according to the coach Nagy was told that the staff felt they had three linemen in the bag and Nagy was presently number three on the waiting list. Although sitting on fifteen offers Nagy will wait, he is (like Taz) a Buckeye.

Thnx for the update stow, keep it coming.

I would really like to see this kid get offered. With the fact that he could play on either side of the ball, I am not sure what the staff is waiting for but I am sure they have their reasons. Our once great depth at DT is starting to look a little thin in 07 and this class is pretty weak at that position. At least with an OH boy who is a Buckeye the staff can wait a little longer than normal.

I wonder who the other two (aside from Smith) of the three are. Ballard is being brought in as a TE, so he shouldn't count as one of the three, I would think. Seeing as Wisconsin has offered, you'd figure our staff would be looking at him more...
