'06 TX QB Sean Hakes (Akron signee; transfer to Orange Coast CC)

Well guys...

As good as things are getting with Miami a few weeks from offering after his good camp performance, Sean's dissappointed with the recent news. My Dad talked to Coach Daniels and the Bucks are not taking a QB in this class as of right now, unless an injury, transfer or something else happens. They were talking about Sean going to the camp and he told my dad he would love to have him come up but he should probably camp where they are taking a QB aka it would kinda be a waste of money. Needless to say dreams wise Sean was dissappointed to hear his dream of putting on the scarlet and grey, running out onto the field to the sound of the Buckeye Battle-Cry, probably wasn't going to be possible anymore. So he will no longer be attending the OSU camp.

Sorry to hear that :( We'll root for him and follow his career wherever he ends up...

I'm sure its hardly a consolation, but tell your bro that we have not even offered Tim Tebow yet, who has 50+ offers I believe.

Just steer clear of the scUMmers, and he'll do fine.

Thats interesting to note, I thought they had offers out to 3-4 OOS QBs right now?

Also, sorry to hear your brother will not be fulfilling his dream. Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

Unfortunantly this is consistant with rumors I have read on other boards.....It seems they are targeting dual threat qbs (hence the OOS offers)..who fit the athlete role.....This is very dissapointing to say the least because it sounds like Sean along with M. Hartline, Tebow, Schlister, and the other potentially great qbs will not be a part of this class....IF WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING IS TRUE.

He is 6'4" and about 200lbs. He can run too with one of the fastest shuttle times for a QB at the Penn State Nike Camp (4.26). And that was as a Sophomore and his forty has dropped dramatically to a 4.7 and continues to drop as he works with a speed coach.
Looking at Hakes' build and noting these numbers, I would be SORELY disappointed in Ohio State's coaches if they renege and end up offering a dual-threat QB in this class (which only makes sense) after basically disinviting Sean from camp. Hakes IS a dual-threat quarterback. I'll keep my eyes on this development....

Rivals $

7/11/05

From the Wisconsin site...Sean enjoyed camp at UW about two weeks ago. The staff told him they will wait until they see some film to decide whether an offer is forthcoming. He has verbal offers from Ole Miss and Colorado State.

Update

Well... It has been a while since I last updated you guys... and alot has happened since.

Sean's season has been going well they are 6-2 and they have two tough district games left. This week is a must win for the Vikings to make playoffs. Sean has been playing great... he is probably 2 times as good this year as he was last year. He is 25 lbs heavier than last year, he's faster and he's just more mature. It's really neat seeing how much he's improved in one year. His stats don't reflect the improvements he's made because they are still running a run-oreignted offense and there have been alot of dropped balls but his highlight film from this year is 100 times better and anyone that said Sean's arm was a question he has definitely answered those questions. I sent his video to Sunshinepreps along with Rivals because it took Rivals so long to get his film up last time. So I'm no to sure when they will have it up they were very fast last time though.

On the recruiting front things are going very well. Sean has recently been offered by Akron and BG, to go along with Ole Miss (off the list) and Colorado State. Sean is also in close contact with Oregon, Virginia Tech, Arizona, UCLA and Iowa. He has been in e-mail contact with Joe Daniels at tOSU and Sean has expressed interest in possibly taking a greyshirt at tOSU but I'm not too sure if that will be the best idea for him to go in. As well I heard through the grapevine that Tressel doesn't like Left handed QB's because he doesn't like having to teach everything twice (could explain the Tebow no offer situation), but who knows it's more or less hearsay. But Sean came up to visit me recently and he met with Coach Solich here at OU and they are in very close contact because Coach Solich has expressed interest in turning his offense into a more balanced attack and putting the spread into a more regular set. They told Sean that the only way that they would bring him in would be to compete as a true freshmen. I think Sean really leaning toward schools that will let him compete his freshmen year, because he feels like he could make an impact right off the bat. So we'll see... Sean will be visiting Oregon for the Cal game, as well he will be visiting Iowa for the Minnesota game. Sean is now really focusing in on teams that will showcase his running ability as well as his passing skills, which is why Oregon, Iowa, BG, Ohio U. and Va. Tech are at the top of his list. But he really likes the Ohio schools... i think he would like to go back to the buckeye state, cause he's got all his family here.

Here are some links to pictures of Sean from his Season... check out the size difference from last year til now.
