'10 FL S Matt Elam (Florida Verbal)

I doubt those 3 would all play safety anyways. No way a 230 lb. Hagan plays safety either. Latwan or LJ can play corner. The only thing with Joyner is I wish his announcement were earlier, as I think it could actually help us bring Elam our way because I think LJ could be a heck of a recruiter for us, especially in Florida. Good to hear Elam is visiting on a non-game day. It shows it won't be a token visit for a free game and he'll see more individual attention.

Just because Lamarcus hasnt publically committed doesn't mean he hasn't done so silently and is currently recruiting for us.... I don't know if we have a true SS ine the past few classes. OJ is one, maybe Wood, but he could be either... Elam IS, and to take him from UF? Wow. We have had some GREAT DB classes lately, this one should be on par, but could also be the best in the last few years.

Ask Jamie: What will Elam do?
Jamie Newberg

...
Sticking with the Gators?
Should the Gators be worried about five-star safety Matt Elam?
-- Rob from Ocala, Fla.

Will Matt Elam end up in Gainesville?
At this point I would say yes, be worried Gators fan. I think chances are 50-50 that Elam signs with Florida. Elam, from West Palm Beach, is the state's top recruit and arguably the best football player from the Sunshine State since Reggie Nelson.
...
His last visit is slated for Florida, and he could possibly visit Ohio State.
...
The fourth little nugget here is his Dwyer High School teammate and good friend Robert Clark. Clark, a receiver/cornerback, has committed to West Virginia. Now, Elam is hoping Florida, Ohio State, FSU and Georgia offer Clark as well.
...
Will he pick Ohio State so he's close to his big brother Abram, who plays for the Cleveland Browns?
...

There are so many questions out there for Elam. What will he do? I wish I knew the answer, and I honestly feel it's a coin flip, but my gut tells me it's going to be very hard for him to walk away from Meyer and Florida. One thing is certain, a decision must come soon. He is scheduled to graduate early and enroll in January.

Dwyer 53, Hollywood Hills 0: Matt Elam scores 4 TDs to lead Panthers' rout

Friday, November 20, 2009
by Andrew Abramson
. . .
The Panthers' Matt Elam scored on a 63-yard run on the game's second play and Dwyer never looked back, crushing Hollywood Hills 53-0 in the Class 4A regional quarterfinals Friday night.

"I said, 'They're in trouble' when they decided to kick to us," Elam said. "I knew the first time I touched the ball I was going to score."

Elam finished with a career-high 234 yards on just 11 carries to go with four touchdowns. He spent the pre-game with his teammates watching video of last year's state semifinal loss to Tampa-Plant, and said the entire team was fired up from the start.

Elam, who has made an oral commitment to the University of Florida but is still weighing other options, was taken out of the game early in the third quarter after he scored his fourth touchdown to put Dwyer up 41-0.

What would have happened if he stayed in the game?
"I probably would have broken some records," Elam said.
. . .
But it was Elam who set the tone, busting out for scoring runs of 63, 59 and 30 yards. And this is just Elam's first season at running back after playing receiver and quarterback in previous years.

"He's strong, fast and tough," Dwyer coach Jack Daniels said. "We thought he'd be good at running back, but not this good."

He might just be good enough to lead the Panthers to their first state championship. Next up is a road game against Fort Lauderdale-Stranahan.
"We're together and we want it," Elam said. "We know how it feels to lose, and I'm going to make sure that doesn't happen again."

REGION 4-4A SEMIFINAL -- DWYER 65, STRANAHAN 7

Stranahan routed by Dwyer 65-7

BY MICHAEL SEFF

Stranahan's dream season came to an abrupt end in the Class 4A regional semifinals at the hands of Dwyer, thanks in large part to Matt Elam's 160 rushing yards.

The highly-touted running back's efforts, as well as five touchdown runs by quarterback Jacoby Brissett, propelled the Panthers (11-1) to a 65-7 rout of the Dragons (9-3) on Friday at Lockhart Stadium.

Inside the Huddle: Dwyer
by Charles Fishbein | December 9th, 2009 @ 12:43 pm

Our new feature to this site is adding hi-lights from teams across the Florida. Dwyer is the team we will focus on today as they get ready for their state semi-final matchup against Armwood. The Hawks have been a thorn in the side of many teams from South Florida. Dwyer will try and finally break through and make it to Orlando. Here is a breakdown of their top players.

Matt Elam: This week ESS put out their post-season top 100. Elam ended up the year as ESS top prospect in the entire state. While there may be prospects in Florida with more upside then Elam very few if any are as productive. He makes plays on both sides of the football and is an enforcer in the Dwyer secondary. Elam has committed to University of Florida and Gator fans got themselves one heck of a catch. (Video Link)

No room in the INN at OSU IMO. With Hagan, Anderson, Bryant, and Joyner we are set at CB (Joyner Bryant) and Safety (Anderson Hagan). If Verlon Reed comes on board as an Athlete (DB/WR/QB) I think we are full IMHO.

Kinda irrelevant anyways. He'll be sticking with his original commitment to UF. Best of luck to Matt.
