The Florida High School Athletic Association is investigating the transfer of football standout Jordan Diggs to Island Coast High School.
The organization informed Island Coast approximately three weeks ago that it had received a complaint regarding Diggs' move from Bishop Verot High School in March.
Vikings athletic director and football coach Phil Dorn confirmed that Bishop Verot contacted the FHSAA about Diggs' transfer.
"We were on good terms," Dorn said. "He's a leader on our team and we're looking forward to a big year. Then, bam, he's gone. That brings up some red flags for us.
"The No. 1 concern is where he ended up and how he got there."
Diggs, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound junior defensive back, is regarded as one of the best prospects in the state at his position. According to Scout.com, he's received 17 Football Championship Series scholarship offers, a list that includes 2011 BCS national champion Auburn, Ohio State, Nebraska and South Florida. He will also play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January, one of the nation's premier high school football all-star games.
