#17 Ohio State vs Akron, November 9 @ 6PM EST ESPN2

That was ugly. I'm beginning to sour on Holtmann, his teams don't seem to play in control. I hold my breath on every pass; they are out-hustled; they take ill-advised shots...ugh

The only thing I see improvement on over previous coaching staffs is free-throw shooting which is pretty good. The rest of it....ummm...

I expect Wheeler will settle in with time as a distributor but he’s no scoring threat. Hopefully Brahman continues to grow he could be the key player. Sueing still needs to get up to speed, they may have been better off without him tonight but him getting back to 100% will help.
Wheeler definitely needs to step up. Hopefully he learns quickly. Branham needs to play upwards of 30 minutes a game if today is a true reflection of the ability of the guards on the team this season.

Hopefully he can come back for the conference schedule. Need bodies to get through the B1G season.

They need some guards that can put the ball in the basket:

Meechie 0-3
Wheeler 0-3
Branham 3-9
Brown 1-2
Russell 0-0
_______________
Guards 4-17

23½% shooting and only 9 points (plus 6 foul shots) from the guard position.

Heck, it looked for awhile that Zed was going to be the only scorer. I did like the way that EJ and Key worked the inside and outside post. Would have liked EJ to play a high post, rather than Young's baseline. Thought Brunk came in and banged the boards a bit, so believe tOSU will be OK down low. Agree that the guards need some work, was really impressed how Branham was calling for the ball - as a true freshman no less, and completing the shot. The inbounds, inside pass, and Branham's game ending buzzer beater was a thing of beauty. He might replace Washington as the 'go-to' 2. Was anyone impressed with Wheeler's ball handling? Looked a bit like he almost had his pocket picked out front a couple of times, but he managed to pull it back in. Would like to see the assist stats. Not much help from the 3 either, Sueing did a tad, but y'all above writers got it right, if tOSU is playing three guards, better be at least two of them who can score.....anyway, not a great look for the #17 ranked team in America. Didn't really see ANY five that had cohesion that is oh so important at this level. 25 wins is not impossible for this team. Shudder to see what happens when the 6 graduates plus EJ leave the hardwood. Hopefully Holtmann has recruited a big who will actually stay.....Go Bucks 1-0!

It was Zed who scored it. Great pass by Branham but Zed scored the winner

Branham played better D than the other young players, and his passing was prime.

Cedric Russell I just don't see. Absolutely awful on D, little of the scorer mentality that I expected, and just generally not very present.

Still waiting to see what Meechie actually brings. More Sueing will probably help.
