Nov. 15 BCS Poll
The BCS poll for the week of Nov 15 was released tonight, tOSU stands at #10.
Somewhat disappointing considering we (tOSU) were jumped by Pittsburg who unconvincingly defeated an unranked ND team, while we knocked off a top ten BCS team.
Even though tOSU was higher ranked in both human polls (#8 in Harris and USA Today vs. #9 human poll rankings for Pitt) the computers dropped us enough to put Pitt ahead.
It is so hard for me to understand the criteria used by the systems, but the computer that just appears to be skewing the whole BCS formula is Jeff Sagarin.
Acc. to that Sagarin compilation Pitt is ranked at #10 and tOSU is #17!
#17 ranking by Sagarin computer means that 2 loss Oregon, 3 loss Va Tech, 3 loss Stanford, 3 loss Oregon State, 3 loss Miami Fl, 2 loss Iowa, and one other team not in the BCS top 25 are ranked higher than tOSU by Jeff Sagarin! :(

that one isn't affecting OSU.
you throw out your high and low scores, and take an average of the remaining 4 to get your computer score.
that helps to eliminate any computer that has a team way off in one direction or another.

Thanks, I remember now that deal with getting rid of the Russian and American judge score in the computer polls, however. . ..

The weight of the computer polls is still skewed. . .
This is how the formula ought to work if it was truly weighted as a 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 ranking system.

It's a pretty sweet feeling knowing that rankings don't matter this year.

I will say this - we've beaten three of the top 16 BCS-ranked teams. We deserve some props for that. The only two-loss team ahead of us is LSU, and they lost to a couple damn good teams.

In the AP, we're the top-ranked 2-loss team. Looks like we've gained a little respect.

Not that it matters, I just found it kind of cool/interesting.
