All the betting talk aside, his (lack of) size doesn't concern you? I mean, the kid was wincing in pain following a game against Indiana. Wait til he has PSU, Wiscy, MSU and Iowa tossing him around.

Sure, I'd rather he had an additional 10-15 lbs on him, but I'm not really that concerned. Statistically, Indiana has the 4th best defense UM will face this year. I think Tate's pretty good at avoiding a direct shot. Not saying it won't happen, because it will, and has against EMU. As he continues to learn the offense, he won't be put in situations where he hesitates, thus causing a big hit.

He's been punished for his size in 3 of the 4 games, and only one of those had anything resembling a defense.

That will happen when you play 2 mediocre MAC schools and E KY. They had a couple solid players but overall they still clearly resembled an Indiana defense.

I'm not sure I agree there, he often circles around the pocket when cornered, trying to make something happen, but isn't especially elusive when the defense is dictating his escape route (versus him attacking the defender in front of him).

I haven't seen a dual threat quarterback who doesn't take big hits. Some avoid them more often than others, but even Vince Young was battered and beaten after his trip to the Shoe.

Where was the hit in the IU game that hurt him??? I don't think there even was a hit. I think he hurt it on his TD run where he lept for the TD. The only hit I remember of any consequence was against EMU when he hesitated getting rid of the ball on a busted play.

Statistically, blueinfla is correct. Of course, he doesn't appear to consider that the data set is just 4, and excluding the Wolverines, includes the following offenses:

Eastern Kentucky - D-IAA
Western Mich - 73rd total offense
Akron - 114th rated total offense

Yep, stats are hilarious.
Particularly when used without context.

He was clearly wincing on the sidelines after a sack in (I believe) the 3rd quarter, and again on another hit in the 4th. The TD run came after those and may have just aggrevated it further.
