2012 Buckeye Planet Pick'em (Yahoo)

So I'm confused. It is saying I missed games where I clearly picked the right team (ie I picked Northwestern, Stanford, Michigan State, Florida, and Georgia, yet it is saying I missed it). Am I missing something?

Point spread. I picked Michigan State to beat Boise State, but since they didn't win by the >7, I guess it's a missed pick.

Correct, you're making picks against the spread..not just picking the winner of the game.

Definitely made my picks like a week and a half before the spreads were even out, and I didn't do too incredibly bad. Now that I know it's a point spread pick em, I'll do better... Or A LOT worse. Stay tuned.

Gotcha, I definitely did not notice that. So nobody gets it right then? You can only pick one of two teams from what I am seeing, I don't see where you could pick the spread.

Example:

Ohio State (Favorite) -26 vs. Miami OH

You have to pick whether you think Ohio State will win by 27+ or if Miami will lose by less than 26.

Ok so if you pick Miami and they lose by less than 26, you would win? (sorry, I'm new to this whole spread system, I've always just done strictly winner/loser).

Think of it like this: the underdog gets spotted points. So Miami would be winning 26-0 when the game begins. So OSU would have to win by 27.

A lot of times the spread will be something like +6.5 or +17.5. The .5 keeps the vbet from ending up as a tie. In this example the favorite must win by 7 and 18 respectively.

Favorite -26 is the same as Underdog +26. You'll see it written both ways...

You'd think a 58-29 record would mean I'm doing fairly well in my real money bets. Unfortunately, you'd be very wrong.

You're pretty hot, Mr. Burns. NOW, just start betting on EVERY single game you pick. And, in the meantime, say Hi to Homer Simpson for me:oh:

Peace
