2013 NCAA West Regional

The Wild, Wild West. Hopefully there will be one less Wild(cat) after Thursday.

OSU pretty much had to win because there had never been a region since the seeding began where none of the top-4 seeds advanced to the S16. The odds are stacked against what almost happened happening.

It would be pretty crazy to see OSU-LaSalle or OSU-Wichita St for a berth in the F4.

La Salle has a brutal travel schedule. Starting in the First Four, they had to play the play-in game in Dayton (Weds) and then they had to go Kansas City to play Friday-Sunday. Now they have a blizzard in KC, a late game Sunday night, and they have to go back home to Philly only to turn around and fly to LA and play Thursday. They might not get back to Philly until about tomorrow afternoon. Not sure how much gas this La Salle team has in the tank. But it would be nice from an OSU perspective to get some payback for that beating in the early '90s against one of JJ's teams.

I love Bill Raftery, who is a La Salle alum, and he has to be loving this. Will be interesting to see if CBS lets him do their game.

Because I know how much we love opposing teams message boards:

OSU seems pretty intent on riding Deshaun Thomas. I hope they can make sure every shot he takes, he doesn't get a single open look. Stop him, and throw Nick on Craft (Craft isn't even at the same level of athleticism as Nick Johnson, he's just a tough player with a weird hitch in his shooting stroke).

I put Nick on Craft all day.
Absolutely. They actually mirror each other in many ways, but Nick is much more athletic and has a higher ceiling. Do-it-all guys with tough defense. I love this.

This will be a very interesting work week for me here in Arizona. A lot of my coworkers are U of A alumni and the trash talking has already begun as of 7:30 this morning. It's funny because last week most of them were saying how worried they were that Belmont was going to knock them out of the tourney in their first game. Now that they have knocked off two powerhouse teams in Belmont and Harvard, they're feeling a little cocky. Looks like an early tip-off for us out west, 4:47 PM PST ... I need to schedule a 3:00 PM appointment somewhere for Thursday! Should be fun.

GO BUCKS! :osu:

They are forgetting we have other elite defenders. If I am Matta I play the small lineup and start Scott and Craft. Arizona is shaky at the guard position. If we can get 15+ turnovers we will win.
Matta will not start Craft and Scott in this game. He will use the same starting lineup that he has all season. You don't change your starting lineup this late in the season. It is just the wrong thing to do. I am not saying that you will not see Scott and Craft in the lineup together but they will not start together. You probably will see the same rotation that we used in Dayton.
