2014 SEC Discussion and Division Races

Makes you wonder about how legitimate Ole Miss's 2013 class is on the top end (Treadwell, Nkimdiche, Tunsil, Conner, etc.), especially when looking at how the 2014 and 2015 classes stack up against it. Boosters falling out of favor with head coach?

SEC Announces Format For Future Football Schedules
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southeastern Conference on Sunday announced the format for future football scheduling that is a continuation of the existing format and adds a strength-of-schedule component that requires all schools to play an ACC, Big 12, Big Ten or Pac-12 opponent on an annual basis. The announcement comes after a vote of the league's institutions.

Each SEC team will continue to play eight conference football games per season, to include six games against division opponents and two games against non-division opponents. One of the non-division opponents will be a permanent annual opponent and the other non-division opponent will rotate each year.

The guys at Indiana and Colorado will need to develop a taste for sweet tea.

If SEC teams need to play an actual out of conference FBS opponent now, well, KANSAS YOUR DANCE CARD IS NOW FULL.

Jeremy Foley's search history will just be frantic variations of "is FAU in the Big 12/Pac-12/Big Ten/how to get FAU in major conference"

I suppose that's a nice tweak that I actually don't hate. The only problem though is that if all other major conferences move towards 9 game schedules, then who's going to want to spend one of their 3 remaining games on a non home game (which I'm assuming it would have to be a home-and-home or neutral site game)?
Good luck scheduling a home and home with an sec school. You will get a neutral site in an sec state or an away game.

For some of us, it has absolutely no impact at all.
UGA already has Tech on the schedule. Same for Sakerlina and Clemson and UF/FSU.
Hell, even Vandy has had some success getting Northwestern and Wake on their schedule.

This is a shot across the bow of the schools from the SEC West.
Outside of LSU (who has been very progressive in their scheduling) and Alabama (who looooves them some neutral site games) these teams have done very little to beef up their schedule
