2014 TSUN Shenanigans and Arguments

Tom did not post for about 2-3 days. Eventually Allen suggested to Sam that Tom have his own rumor board where he can provide content the subscribers love without infringing on his credibility ego.

Also fun, Sam's pal (and media trainwreck) Marcus Ray is on the coaching search committee.

Anyway, now we're getting stuff like this again

There is both confidence ... and extreme nervousness ... analogy: It's like have a lead in the 4th quarter, perhaps, but NOT an insurmountable one.

Something like that. People are definitely worried about something popping up at the 11th hour (which is based partly on prior history of course)

No shortages of rumors here!

A 49ers loss to Seattle could trigger a speed-up in the pace of developments (even, possibly, a firing) ... I know this is only logical, but it's something I was told last night so I'm passing it on.

Just from a speculative-distance, it's unclear whether the 49ers will act in their own best interest, or, at this point, simply out of spite ... the difference is (possibly) consequential to us.

However, my sources all still think it's gonna happen as we all hope (but, with my caveat to us-all, it's impossible not to do wishful-thinking ... none of us are neutral on this, are we).

On a recruiting note, I'm again told that HS coaches will be once again be bedazzled by the Maize and Blue if Jim is hired - instantly bedazzled ... and the HS coaches I'm talking about are from the South. And that's not speculation, that's based on 'noise' being picked up from the HS ranks. If Harbaugh isn't the most gravitas-y (or is it gravitas-itudinous?) name in football these days, I dunno what is.

On a side note ... it's been suggested to me that, having kept their hands off Jim, Miami might make a play for John down the line.
One might think a playoff bound college coach would have more gravitas than a fired NFL coach, but that's just me.

Most of the senior leadership within Michigan athletics and on their board of regents now understand that Jim Harbaugh is unlikely to come to Michigan and I am told Hackett has been told it will be acceptable to hire a “college coach” before the end of the NFL season if he finds the one he is willing to stand behind.

Per sources, Hackett and his staff have discussed both Jim Mora and Dan Mullen with the Regents. Sources in Michigan that I have spoken with believe that if either Mora or Mullen were willing to come, then Hackett would support those hires

In case anybody is unaware of the Sam Webb/McDowell situation...last year during that entire saga, when it was clear to everybody, and every expert had it an MSU/OSU battle...there was Webb, insisting scUM still was in it. The guy is a hack.

Never let it be forgotten as the spin gets up to full speed, that they were indeed all in on Jim Harbaugh.

All in.

Whoever the hell they hire wasn't their first, second or third choice. He was the "well fuck, Jim said 'no fucking way' and we still need a coach" guy.
