- Lewis has other DE, Hubbard/Holmes/Slade for Bosa' against VTech
- Mentioned possibility of Perry at DE?
- Really likes 3 frosh LBs - Connor, Baker, Hilliard. Thinks they'll contribute this year.
- Dunn current #2, but Samuel will also figure at RB -- Curtis looked great today
- Urban issues: Depth DL, Depth OL, Devin Smith's replacement
- Brax working on split and release, thinks he's a bit unsure -- in the receiver room, "full time receiver"
- Won't announce QB til VTech (good luck w/game plan Beamer)

One thing I don't fully understand is why not do a similar thing with the announcement of the suspensions. If he announces the week of, or even day of the game if that's something that's allowed, the team and coaches know bosa and the offensive guys are out, but it would completely waste planning on VT's side.

Maybe because rumors were out there and the news was about to break anyways. Better to control it I would think.

At B1G media day in Chicago, Urban mentioned they were aware of info leaking out and were upset with names of kids that weren't in any trouble being thrown around amidst the speculation (some idiot on 11W even still dropped Zeke's name in an article comment recently, which Dawn shot down immediately). They made the decision to announce it before the conference so that it would be dealt with and be a one-day news cycle thing. They did not want it hanging over camp because (as we now know) they've got a booked media schedule with ESPN's Bus Tour yesterday, Zeke's E:60 feature coming up, BTN doing Scarlet and Gray Days, the BTN Bus Tour Aug 24, College GameDay in Blacksburg on Labor Day, etc ...

Really important that kids see how much media face-time OSU football players get, and that the coverage is positive while they're closing out back-to-back #1 recruiting classes.

So we lost a very legitimate competitive advantage because someone inside the program felt the need to leak something serious like suspensions (and then we all know what Buckeye fans will do from there). Fans will blame other fans for being loser idiots (and rightfully so), but rumors don't start without someone e inside saying something. Urban was/is probably so pissed.

Stuff can get leaked in all kinds of ways -- especially when you have thousands of people looking for scoops.
If I had to guess, the most likely was some kind of comment from the suspended parties. Not deliberate, but more than likely they talked to friends/family about the process (and results) as it was going on... and once it's out, it spreads.
