Game Thread 2015 Sugar Bowl: (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 1st @ 8:30p ET, ESPN (civilized thread)

Your girlfriend started it and then you added it to by saying OHio State's only hope was to have the QB scramble around and throw 50 yard prayers.
I was actually trying to tell you to throw deep on us since we have been burned way too many times recently by QBs scrambling and heaving it downfield. Have you not watched our last two games?

Ohio State showed last night they can stop the run even against elite rushing teams.

Stopping Cooper will be a big challenge but we have several weeks to prepare. Additionally, Bama's OC is a proven dumb dumb who is prone to doing dumb things like over thinking or otherwise messing up a game plan.

Bama showed in the Iron Bowl (amongst other places) they can't stop good offenses and in particular are vulnerable to deep passes. Our QB and WR put on a deep ball clinic last night.

Additionally, I think Ohio State has a lot of intangibles on their side (nothing to lose, underdog, chip on their shoulder, etc.).

Those are the reasons I'm feeling good about this game.

Bama is a very, very good team. But I think the majority of their success on offense (this is going to be obvious) is dominance of their OL. Our DL is going to negate that quite a bit. Cooper is one of the best college football WRs I have seen in my lifetime, no joke...Doran Grant has a chance to catapult himself up into mid-1st round status with a good showing against Cooper. More importantly, him limiting Cooper is crucial to our defense. I think we can match up with Henry and Yeldon well if our DL brings their A game (they will) but do not dismiss either RB, they are both very talented...I don't think they are Gordon/Coleman/Cobb good but they are not far off the mark and are tough as a tandem. Sims is a good QB, not great. I really like our matchups in the trenches though and athletically we match up in the secondary. If we come with a proper gameplan, I think we can be tough against them.

Our offense is really a wildcard against them. I think we can run the ball on anyone but we will have to loosen them up some vertically. Elliott bringing his game is crucial (he will), as I think he could really have some big time success. They have a pretty good secondary but I like Marshall in space and Devin Smith to get behind them a few times.

Overall, I love the matchup first round. Urban vs. Satan. FUCK Bama and everything they stand for.

OK. I give up. Ask me anything about Alabama football.
This is the thing about Bama that has me concerned, the Dline looks legit. What I also see is the LB corps struggles when the offense is spread out. Now I don't see a lot of empty set but 4 wide and 3 wide is where tOSU offense needs make some hay.

One more thing, do you Bama guys think there's added pressure for Saban to win because tOSU is starting a 3rd string QB and of course because it's Meyer and all?

I don't think who the QB is makes much difference. As far as Meyer is concerned, most BAMA fans were more concerned when he was at UF with Tebow than they are now. The last time the two coaches faced off, one went to the hospital and retired (for like a day or two).

We're going to need a screening process before they post. The good ones that bring knowledge aren't going to be heard over the trash. It's too bad.

Yup. I know a couple guys from my work group in Montgomery who are regulars on the Bama scout forum. I'll see if they want to come and prove these other guys aren't the entire fanbase....
